I have always been a cyclist and started running 2 years ago so I could do some do some triathlons and for change of pace in the winter. I was always injury prone until then when I started running 6 days a week. I have tried several shoes before I found the Trances. I have had very good luck with the Brooks Trance. I am 6’4" 190 and have been running 40-50mi/week for a year getting ready for IMAZ. After I recover from that I am wanting to try some trail racing in Feb/March. I am a little afraid to change shoes and risk an injury since I have been injury free with the Trance. Can anyone recommend a trail shoe similar to the Trance that will work with my mileage/size?
you can try the adrenaline ASR trail shoe, adrenaline and trance are pretty similar with regard to structure and support, i alternate between them and actually prefer the adrenaline. The Adrenaline ASR is a trail version of the shoe.
Just wear the trance. Unless you need serious water drainage from deep creek crossings, “trail running” shoes are just a gimmic.
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve wished I was wearing a trail shoes, instead of my “road” runners in the last 16 years of running.

i agree with the previous two posts…
if you buy shoes, get the brooks adrenaline asr…good tight upper weave to keep water, snow, dirt out, and good traction bits underneath if you are on terrain that calls for it, especially on up- and downhills
however, if you are trail running, and your trail could really be run in something that doesn’t NEED a lot of traction, stick with the shoes you are wearing.
Trance might be fine, depending on where you’re running. If in AZ, you need more protection. I have had stress fractures and serious rock bruises from running in “trail” shoes that were just road shoes with more rubber in the upper. I have been VERY happy with Brooks Cascadias for the last four or so years…but that said, I don’t think I have tried on the Trance. Adrenalines have fit me pretty well.
