Recommedations for iPhone apps

I’m looking for some new sports related apps.

Doodlejump.

paper toss…balances the pull

** TriCalc** (www.itunes.com/app/tricalc) is a pace/time/distance calculator that is specifically designed for multisport (it handles Tri’s & Du’s). It’s not trying to track you with the phone’s GPS (too much battary drain and too inaccurate from my tests), it’s purely a calculator that you can plug in 2 of the 3 variables (time, distance, pace) for each sport and it will calculate the third.

If you are using it to put in pace/speed & distance for each sport, it will add the swim/bike/run times together (plus T1/T2 times you estimate) to give you a total race time prediction. It has some other features like pre-defined distances for Oly, HIM, and IM, and handles imperial or metric units.

(full disclosure, it’s my app, I wrote it because I was always breaking down my paces from splits after a race or plugging in paces to play “what if” to predict race times).

My wife (Lauren Jensen, professional triathlete) and I have created the Swim Planner iPhone app via our Tri Faster coaching business:

http://www.itunes.com/app/swimplanner
http://www.trifaster.com/p1.htm

You can use it to generate swim workouts based on your pool type and desired workout distance. Interval times are based on your individual fitness level determined from a simple time trial swim - just enter the result in the settings.

That looks really cool.

I second TriCalc. Its not my app, but I love it. Its nice when I’m thinking about PR’s I can plug numbers into there and get the times.

Doodlejump.

+1 on doodlejump. Great mindless game while you’re killing time. Apparently it is addicting, but I have yet to see it. I guess maybe it’s because I am terrible at any/all video games. Well, that’s not entirely true…I used to be pretty badass at SSX Tricky on the ps2.

Ypu definitely need to check out pedalbrain from pedalbrain.com, met them this morning in person. Its like having a Forerunner on your iphone, just better.

Strands.com

It’s a GPS that downloads right to the log. It’s pretty cool

How about a good iPhone app training log??

Free bump for the swim planner app, it is great! I am using the HP Printing app too so I can print my swim workouts through our networked printer. Getting the printouts of the workouts makes me feel like I have a coach! Nice job.

I see that Swim Planner is now available for Android so I am giving this old thread a bump. I am not affiliated but it is awesome to have this on my Nexus One phone now!
