Recommedation for Running Shoe to Prevent Calluses

I recently starting wearing Hoka One Klifton 2 as my running shoe for training and triathlons. During my original fit, the shoe felt great but after about 4 miles running in them I start to get rather painful calluses on the outside of my small pinky toe. I have done a couple runs to break-in the shoes and end up fighting through the callus pain that I get. I didnt want to make another change too soon since I had my Ironman 70.3 Miami this weekend and wanted to wait till after it was completed. During the race, I was taking Ibprofens throughout the run to stop the swelling on my foot.

I think that the shoe is too narrow up front and puts unnecessary pressure on the outside of my foot. I plan on taking the shoes back and exchanging them for something else.

Anyone have any recommendations for a replacement shoe?

My requirements would be:

  • Not as narrow as Hoka One Klifton 2
  • Similiar cushioning
  • Same weight (or lighter)

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
