Does anyone have any experience on how long rearwheel bearings last until you need to replace them or re-grease them?
Depends on so many different factors:
-Type of bearings (ceramic or standard steel?)
-Tension on the hub (tight or loose?)
-Type of riding (out of saddle climbing vs. constant tt effort vs. road racing)
-your weight (lean vs. heavy)
Plus, the brand of bearing makes a difference.
I got just under 20,000 miles out of my Velocity deep Vs. Of course those were my training wheels and i didn’t care that much about efficiency. You could jiggle the axle around a little in the hub at about 15,000. When shifting became an issue due to wheel movement I finally bought a new wheel. Of course I was also the first person in SC to own Rock Shocks(1989) and I just retired that CroMo bike 2 years ago. I could be accused of using my stuff for too long.
