I recently purchased the Selle SMP Pro. While the seat is excellent, so far I have come up empty in my search for a dual bottle rear hydration system that attaches to the seat. I’m hoping someone on here either knows what I could use, or has a work around, or some kind of advice, other than take the seat back.
I’ve attached two images that show my problem, which is basically that the seat rails are too far apart. Nothing conventional fits them. The seat post is Aero (Felt B12)
Pic 1 is the rear of the seat.
Pic 2 is the rear of the seat with ruler to show gap.
You are obviously riding in an office so just use a long tube and hook it up to the water cooler. Or just grab your co-worker’s bottled water from their cubicles as you go by…oh, and don’t forget the keys are in the filing cabinet.
Hahaaa! I was thinking that it was hilarious there are file cabinets and cubicles in the first photo. Then I saw the ruler in the second and I lost it. Having a slow day at the office?
I have the SMP and a hydrotail. The hydrotail doesn’t work that well with it but it did work. I have since mounted the hydrotail to the rear hole in my seat post (P3C). You should call Nytro and I bet some of their XLab cages will fit it really well.
I mounted mine on the inside of the rails with the clamps on the outside. I had hoped to take pics but I went through several plastic clamps before the great folks at Beaker sent me the metal clamps so I never got around to the pics. And now the bike is sold.
I sweated this out with IMAZ right around the corner after striking out with Bontr and XL, but I got the Profile to fit. Had to give up 1 mm on my seat bracket, but it works. I like the snug bottle fit too. Not sure about the aero dynamics with the drop much more below the seat than my old Bontr, but I love the SMP saddle. Literally saved my ass. And yes I’ll have the sticky stuff off the seat post by AZ.
hmm. I took it to my LBS a few days back and they said I would have to give up at least an inch to get it to work. Judging by your pics, that’s not the case at all. I have the dual position felt seat post, but even with that, I think it could still work. I’ll have to mess with my ‘fit’ a little bit, but that’s something I can do at the office.
Thanks for the pics. Looks great. I’m going to give that a try.
