Rear-ended=wheel busted

coming back from the seahorse, my car was rear-ended as part of a three car collision. I was in front, so I am not at fault, but my rear bike wheel was mashed. I have a felt f90. it’s my first and only road bike, so I don’t have any spare wheels. should I just go ahead and buy a new wheel in the hopes that I get reimbursed eventually by the insurance company? if not, I’m without a bike for a while.

See if your lbs has a cheap one you can borrow for a little while.

You should be able to find a servicable rear wheel for about $50 or so on Ebay. Your LBS might even have some old rear wheels laying around that will work. In the end it wouldnt hurt to have a spare wheel laying around.

Where are you located and what size wheel do you need? I have an older set of 700c wheels you can borrow if you are near West Bloomfield.

I’m in Chicago, but thanks for the offer!

I am in Rockford - you are welcome to one of my wheels…no issues.

Wheel will be shipped Wed for delivery by the weekend…TSR strikes again!

Way to go Mr Record.

More proof that the system works. I can tell you all first hand that it feels better to give someone your old stuff than to sell it for less than you think it is worth…if you have something you can TSR…then make it so. Ship it to me if you dont want to hassle with people…

you da man Record. BTW are you going up and doing the half in Wisc this year. I dont know if you remeber but our bikes were right next to each other a couple years ago and met you then… If I remember correctly you had a couple of nice looking young ladies with you that day… Hope to see you again sometime soon. Good luck if you are doing the race…

Record10Carbon you are da man!

Yeah, I think that was 2 year ago…I ended up 10th in that race last year (much better race). They dont even have that race this year, I am doing another half this sunday though…hoping for about 4:45 or so…we will see.

How are your neck and back? You should know that pain and suffering in these critical regions oftentimes don’t show up for weeks. Don’t settle anything with the insurance company until you have had a thorough examination by your family physician…and consulting with me, Attorney Daniel Mitchell, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am in the Yellow Pages and One Book.

Seriously, good luck and hope you are on the road soon,

Seamus

I hope to hell that is a joke. If not, your post should be moved to the classifieds…last thing we need is a hungry PI Lier (lawyer) fishing for clients here.

Well good luck to you. Where is the one you are doing this weekend. Is it close to the one we did. I am just curious because I have relatives in Aurora and am always looking for races when we come up to visit. Do you have a schedule of races in the area or is there a website I can access that has a list of races. Sometimes we plan to come up and some times we just take off and come up so if I can find some races that just adds to my fun. Anyway thanks for the help if you can…

This one is about another 2 hours north…near MN I guess…I would check active for races in the area, there are a ton coming up…thanks for the well wishes

Daniel “THE HAMMER” Mitchell he might be a SOB but he’s YOUR SOB! LOL

Oh! I forgot, you da man! Great thing to do!

“when you hurt - he FIGHTS!”

Yeah…police scanner in tow…checking the admit logs of the ER every morning.

It was indeed a joke. I am a lawyer, but am only licensed in Wisconsin. No harm intended, but sometimes levity helps, especially when it sounds like there was no injury involved. I am serious about the check up post-accident however, whether with the family physician or chiropractor. Necks and backs are too valuable to fool around with and symptom-onset can be delayed.
