Ready for open water swimming in Michigan!

Unfortunately, it’s still hard to find water:

This is another Jeff that I know, and it looks like he’s starting to get a little desperate!

Still lots of ice here. Lake Michigan isn’t much better right now. The ice flows make for beautiful kayaking though.

Waiting for the thaw…

Drill a hole and drop in an Endless Pool motor?

Is that Singer lake?

That is Singer Lake… the site of my 1st tri over 20 years ago. It was a swim, run, bike tri (the “Y Tri”). Nice little lake and that’s Jeff’s backyard - nice huh?

Jeff

I’ve ice fished it but never swam it. Although I nearly went for a swim once when the ice got thin. I’ll bet it’s a cold lake to swim even in the middle of summer because of the springs that feed it.

There can be cool spots from the springs, but for the most part it is really nice in the middle of the summer and into the fall. It is a great place to swim as there are typically very few boats, and what’s there tend to stay off to the sides fishing for bass.

Let me know if you want to join us for some swims this year.

Jeff

Swimming Singer would work out well since I work in Berrien Springs and I need to do more open water swimming. Let me know when you get started. I have a full suit but I’m not a polar bear. My email is getfit@comcast.net.

typical full ice out is coming up quick.

i broke out the swim buoy last week.

it’s sitting at the top of the steps leading to the waterfront…holding on in anticipation like a lab waitin’ for a downed goose.

honnnnk.

what’s with the wetsuit? you don’t need a wetsuit  can’t be THAT cold…
