I will be in Vienna, Austria for four days this month, and I’m looking for a good pool to swim laps in. I’m staying in the inner stadt, but obviously can walk/use the subway/tram to visit a pool. Indoor/outdoor is fine. There do seem to be a lot of options, but looking for some slowtwitch advise from those of you who live there and/or have lived/visited Vienna. Thanks you!!!
Also, if you have recommendations for swimming in Budapest, those are welcomed, too! Thank you!!
Thank you. I have looked at many of these, but the translations can be tricky, and I was hoping that perhaps someone on ST would have personal experience with a pool that they could recommend. As of right now, finding one within reasonable travel distance (either via walking or public transit) from the inner stadt, is proving challenging. Anyhow, thanks for the link!
Check out Stadthalle for the only 50 meter indoor pool in Vienna. Its located at the metro station Burggasse of metro U6. alternatively check Schönbrunner Bad for a 50 meter outdoor pool. It is located at metro U4 Station Schönbrunn (could check out the castle as well). Finally if you’re willing to spend 18 € go to John Harris Fitness in Strobachgasse, its a 25 meter indoor pool which is mostly empty.
Consider that Stadthalle and Schönbrunner Bad do not allow fins. both might have lanes closed for training. Schönbrunner bad has teo lanes close for sports and usually has some strong swimmers.
Stadthalle opened two days ago after four years of renovation. I would go there.
