I’ll start off by saying that I scrolled down your first page and didn’t dig to deep. While I’m just starting with a blog myself I have a few comments. It doesn’t seem very visually appealing. You post lots of pictures which is great but the background and organization seem bland. Also as I scroll through I know nothing about you. Are you appealing to your friends that will be familiar with the places/people you’re talking about or random tri people that might stumble across your blog? If the latter I would include more information in your picture captions or more explanation in your posts. Just my 2 cents.
Stuart, I took a look at the first page of your blog as well. I’ll echo some of the other comments - it would be good to add context to your posts by more thorough captioning of the pictures. I liked the race report quite a bit as well. Great pictures (although the fish you caught fly fishing was tiny!).
Proofread, proofread, proofread.
As noted by others, more complete thoughts.
The net effect of these two things is that it’ll appear to the reader that you put some effort into the posts. Rhetorical question: if you’re not willing to put effort into creating good content, why should I put in the effort to read it?
What are other elements i can improve on( asking here because Slowtwitch seems to be pretty in tune with the triathlon community) I have Facebook http://www.facebook.com/stuarttriguy and twitter http://twitter.com/#!/StuartWalpole How can i use these to promote myself better as a Athlete?
looks good. Not a huge fan of the color and font of your name though.
Generally speaking…I either go white background/small black font in column format almost like newspaper or dark background with white font etc.
My one overall tip for gaining exposure: lots of short videos. put them on youtube and your site. videos of transitions, pre-races, post-races, training tip, etc.
I like how Terrenzo does his videos. Race recaps done via video. Sets yourself apart.
-Banner photo is huge. It messes with your layout so that your sidebar items are pushed down to the second page.
-Crop and position photos so that readers don’t have to scroll through pages of photos to get to the next bit of text content. Explain the photos while you’re at it, especially if they’re not of you.
-Spelling & Grammar count.
-Blogging is about consistency, especially if you are trying to obtain exposure. Set a plan to post every Monday or every Monday and Thursday, or whatever. Post your thoughts and be diligent about it.
If you are talking about my girlfriend who is living with me in Europe, Sorry she doesn’t have a blog!
And i’m not sure what else you mean by that comment?
Better than the first time 'round, mate. Keep working on good content and on improving your writing.
Since you seem to be going down the road of selling and promoting yourself, present yourself in such a way that a company could see a benefit from having you as a spokesman for their product/service/etc. Remember, any sort of sponsorship isn’t about what you get out of the deal, it’s about what the sponsor gets out of the deal…

That was his creepy-internet-stalker way of saying that he thinks your girlfriend is attractive. Some people are strange.
I think your blog looks great, get some racing content on there!
The actual blog looks pretty good. The name/ title shot doesn’t look as good as the quality of the rest of the blog.
Kinda like a bad title to a good film.
Little more race detail, team details. Pics are good, videos would set it apart.
