You’ll need to look out for some kid taking your lunch money. But you’re probably used to that already.

This is for your kids right? I only know of one adult that wears a rash guard. Sean Hannity admits to it every now and then. You don’t want to be like him do you?
Rash guard = condom, no?
I wear one most of the time I’m at the beach, it is amazing how skin cancer in the family will make the decision easy, plus I really don’t care what others think about me when I’m at the beach, or most places for that matter.
I have used O’Neil and Bare, they both worked fine I think the O’Neil was a little nicer but the bare was cheaper. The next one I buy will likely be what ever is cheaper.

At our local, family popular, beach, I’d say the majority of parents in the water are wearing tops in combination with either a hat or sunnies.
Skin cancer capital of the world.

even hannity can be right on occasion! no kids on this vacation. just me and the ms.
When we’ve visited Melbourne to see family, I’m convinced that Aussies have that on soundtrack because I hear it everywhere there: “Do you have your sunscreen?”, “You know there’s a hole in the ozone layer here. It’s the skin cancer capital of the world. You better cover up!”
Not sure what beach it was we went to, somewhere near the island that has the ferry penguins (which are cute as hell, by the way!), but there were a ton of adults there covered up on top. We’re surrounded by the world’s best freshwater lakes here (Michigan), but I’ve only ever seen a couple of adults covered up on top here…not that I wish more wouldn’t, though!

Lands End has good rash guards for kids. I bought one some years ago that is still holding tight and never caused any discomfort or burns.
When I started doing the Lake Nokomis Open Swim sessions regularly (it’s a Minneapolis thing yo - vegan will know what’s up), I shopped around for a good rashguard since I burn like a mofo.
I got a couple of Volcoms that look similar to this one (link), and I’ve been very happy with 'em. The are tight but not too tight, and they hold their shape well when swimming. No chafing issues, and are overall comfy to wear. And they clean up nicely (i.e. don’t retain lake stank).
Effective sun protection for the ol’ back and shoulders, so that’s the big win for me ![]()
Cheers, Chris
You have to help me understand this, because it would take clear and present threat to my safety for me to stomach wearing one of those.

Because i live in minnesota and im heading to the caribbean in the winter. i will fry! we will be doing a fair amount of snorkeling and i dont want to suffer after i get scalded.
years ago we were in santa cruz on a cloudy day. i got sunburned so badly that i ended up in the er with TWO ivs going at the same time. i dont want to relive that.
where did you get them? i saw some at the osseo dive shop where we picked up snorkeling gear, but i didnt like them.

Have a look at any world tour surfing comp and get back to me regarding the ratio of those competing bare torso vs those competing in a top.
I ordered mine from Backcountry.com, since I too couldn’t find anything decent around here locally.
I was hoping I could dig up my old order to see exactly what I got, but that link I posted seems to be the very same overall shirt overall (tighter fit, longer short sleeve).
Backcountry has a good return policy, so maybe get a few different brands/styles and see which one feels best to you?
Have fun on the vacation!!
That makes sense to me, you put wax on surfboards which attracts sand for friction. You then have to ride out to the breakers with your torso in contact with that sandpaper like surface.

im leaving next week. i have time to order, but not return if theres a problem.
Here in Oz most people will wear a rashie or shirt at the beach. Go for a long sleeve one and get one that fits snugly. If they are loose they flop around while you are swimming. And don’t forget the sun block.
Both my, early 20’s, daughters wore these rashies to the beach on Christmas day. Unfortunately they are still wearing them.
