Random observations during my brick today

  1. New saddle: Selle Italia SLK Gel. 2nd best thing between my legs ever. Love it.
  2. There are waaaaaay more riders in Van this year than last. It’s awesome to see so many roadies, clubs, trigeeks, loners (like me) out riding.
  3. A chocolate bar really hit the spot after 2hrs of hard riding.
  4. I can hold a chocolate bar beteen my aerobars & stem (that little spot that’s open there). Coffee crisp fits perfectly. It will stay there until I exceed 45kph. Then it’s gone.
  5. There are more dogs than people at Locarno/Spanish Banks. They’re fun to watch tho.
  6. Ice cold chocolate milk after a 2h30 run in the sun is heaven on earth.
  7. Didn’t see Khai, PowerGyoza et. al. today (like last week), but did meet a new rider friend, Zenya. He also has a 16mo old daughter and is riding with Escape Velocity (local roadie club). He thinks anyone doing IM is crazy.
  8. Those little packets of crackers you get free with soups etc are a good cheap salty snack.

Khai was on a plane today. He’d have much rather been out riding/swimming (or even gasp! - running!) but instead was trying to sleep while some old dude complained non-stop about everything to his wife (poor woman).
