Ralph's date is up March 19, 2005

Arizona’s can’t be far behind or rather ahead.

I hate having to sign up for races almost(and for WTC IM a full) year in advance. There needs to be a better way to do this.

the word I got from someone on the inside at IMNA is there are a couple more things to finalize at the next city council meeting and then they will be ready to open IM AZ up for registration. I didn’t ask anything about course or dates though.

That is one race that I will now skip. I like racing Ralph’s but that early with that COLD water, nah. I would be better off enjoying New Zealand.

Mike-

When’s the next City Council Meeting?

Jimmy, come to NZ with me!! I’ll go to Ralph’s but just to spectate now. IM NZ 2005 for me.

Its interesting but it only means there are two races I probably won’t be doing (I did Ralph’s this year). IMO March is too early for a 1/2 IM and April is way too early for a full IM. I think WTC would be wise to place an IM on the west coast late summer/early fall.

I doubt I’m alone in wanting to spend a lot of time with friends and family over the holidays…not to mention the weather is usually lousy for training. When I’m opening up presents with the little ones and sharing some warm homemade xmas cookies when it is raining outside, the LAST thing I want to worry about is - “how am I going to get my long ride in?”

OT

not sure when the next council meeting is, maybe someone from Tempe can chime in on that. I got the impression that it was in a week or two.

I can see where the early dates would not necessarily be conducive for people in the north. For Ralph’s I don’t think it will make a lot of difference water temp wise. A couple of weeks earlier with the date means the water will be about 2 degrees cooler. So instead of being cold, it will be slightly colder

Holidays with friends and family? Instead of training, surely you jest. I have no friends and my family lives half way across the world. I’m just a training whore that time of the year

Actually I’m probably spending Christmas in Costa Rica this year. January and February will be my key months of preparation if I decide to do IM AZ.

for us zonies, april is about perfect. we(or at least i) get most of my quality training in during the winter months due to the warm winters. it’s fast approaching the time when heat makes it very difficult to train effectively. they could push it back a bit, but then they’d be risking the 100 degree weather that seems to jump up in the first couple weeks of may. it could easily be in the 90’s in april as it is. i will really be looking forward to this bad boy. if for no other reason than the costs will be cut by about 2/3…
