Summitting Mt. Rainier is not an easy task. It’ll require a climb permit and experienced guides and a bit of training to get there. And discipline to know when it’s not wise to continue past the base camp. The climb from the base camp to the summit and back down again takes around 30 hours or so as I recall. Plus the time up to the base camp.

It takes much less. Maybe 7-8 hours up and as little as 4 down (though one should count on 6). From the parking lot (not base camp).
This being said, you are right about this: it requires experience and a permit. And discipline. Maybe it’s something I should keep as an informal thing between friends I know, and who are capable.
