I really enjoyed the post about race wheels vs. training wheels and the time saved. I realize that there are some really anal people out there but WOW! Hats off to all of you who glue sew-ups. I used to that 15 years ago myself. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time? Lance (and I would guess most Euro pros) ride tubbies for ONE reason. If you flat the front you don’t automatically crash, with clinchers it’s a mouth full of pavement. Of course, they don’t glue them up either… I love that all of the research here comes from guys who SELL you the equipment. Gee, I think they may be biased. Forums are for opinions and many of you won’t like this one but here goes- We all agree to ride certain equipment and that is it. Why should anyone buy a win? That does not prove that they are a better athlete. Isn’t athletic accomplishment what we are in this for? What would it matter if everybody used Ksyriums or 32 hole box section clinchers? In the end only the companies that made the aero stuff would suffer. I LOVE that the UCI reset the hour record, it is an athletic contest NOT a science experiment. I gave up all my aerostuff when I had my bike stolen about a year ago. Know what? Not much of a difference. In the end we only race ourselves… Peace
