Race Towel?

So, if you were at a race and got an ugly T-Shirt that some dolt decided was nice you put it in a drawer and wear it to mow…now…what about a race Towel? A nice towel with the race info on it…you could use it to dry your feet at other races, you could even use it for intergalactic travel if needed…

But, if not a towel…what would you want?

(call me nuts but I think a towel is a decent idea)

I think a towel is a cool idea. It would make your race stand out. I say go for it.

I’ve actually have a collection of towels that I’ve won from races. I keep trying to finish 3rd OV all the time to round out the set. (so far so good, 3 for 3)

Did you ever get one of the Izuzu towels from the 99, 00 seasons? Them are some nice towels…IronMan logo on the 00 towel…but the 99 Izuzu was thicker and I use it way more often.

I have actally had my IronMan towel at St. Kitts and some folks from Europe thought it was awesome - they were on the island at the same time (duh) and race Tri in Europe…cool I thought.

At college I have two or three race shirts somewhere in my dresser…and one sweet big ass beach towel in the bathroom that says Triathlon on it that I got from a race.
It’s pretty cool stuff.

I like the towel idea.

I have one that I got at a race one time and I try to keep it in my race bag but whenever I wash it my wife grabs it to use as a burp-cloth for the baby. I might as well give it up and do your race to get a new one

A towel is pretty cool. It would be nice if race organizers mixed it up a bit. I can always use socks for training, hats, bottles, ez-laces and so on.

I like the Powerman schwag: Race T, SOCKS, race bag, and a bike bottle to replace the one you’re going to toss off during the race (especially since they hand out disposable bottles on the course.) The socks are really key. Who doesn’t always need more socks…ok…some of you don’t answer that…I know some of you never wear socks, even in training…

My wife got a buff (like the ones from Survivor) from a race in NYC with the logo on it. She uses it a lot and always comments on how it was one of the most functional items ever given out. Balaclava, towel, headband, wristband, etc. etc…

What is the date for the ROCKCARBONLOVESTRI?

I like the towels, but I only have a couple and they’re smaller sized (hand-towels?). They’re still cool, but I’d totally dig a big towel.

So, if you were at a race and got an ugly Towel that some dolt decided was nice you put it in a drawer and use it to wipe your chain with…now…what about a race technical t-shirt? A nice t-shirt with the race info on it…you could use it to train in?

a towel is a neat idea. I like the ‘survivor’ buff idea more, though.

What about a hat or a visor?

The gave away small Timberman towels last year at the… you guessed it… the Timberman. An excellent race btw!!!

I agree that it is one of the more useful race items I have gotten.

Ok time to show my reality TV ignorance… What is a “buff” like on survivor?

The last race I did had a race belt in the packet. That was the first time I ever saw one as swag.

i got a pair of shorts once with the race info on them
.

Also I forgot to say that collegiate nationals this year had more free schwag then any race i’ve ever been to… hat, shirt, 2 bottles, towel…

I like chicks in the buff.

Wait, that came out wrong… (or did it?)

M

a survivor buff is like a bandana with the logo on it
.

At Lifetime Fitness last year they gave out towels that were actually embroidered with your first name - that was especially unique.

I’ll also add that a couple of the races here gave out custom triathlon backpacks last year…and these are some relatively smaller $60-$70 races. Definitely the most visible give-away because a ton of people have been using them all over ever since and probably the most useful schwag I have ever gotten at any sort of race of any type.

I’ve received many towels. A big towel would be very nice and lose the T-shirt. I’ve also received a 14" x 48" swim towel that was very nice. It also had a little velcro mesh pouch on the end for your swim gear so you could just stuff your goggles and things in there. I use that frequently. Nice socks are always useful. Dri-fit shirts are useful and always nice.
