Quick road rash question

So I had a bike crash last Saturday and now I’m dealing with road rash. Per an earlier ST thread, I bought big sheets of Tegaderm for my hip. I put one on this morning and now I’m wondering if I should be taking it off before I go to bed? Any other advice? How long should I have to use this? It’s like $6 a sheet.
Thanks

No - leave it on. I will get very wet/soupy under with a lovely yellowish liquid that will build up. You can puncture a hole to drain the serous fluid out. You can probably get a piece to last up to 72 hours before needing to be changed. Heal quickly.

With Tegaderm in hand you are already one step ahead of most and will now sleep much better rather than sticking to the sheets. Tegaderm keeps the wound moist to prevent scabbing and assist in the formation of new skin. Fluid will build up under/in the Tegaderm sheet and as long so you don’t see any red areas on the skin (infection) leave it alone . Put a new patch on when it starts to significantly leak fluid/no longer stick. Mine usually last ~4 days. DO NOT CHANGE DAILY - that defeats the purpose.

Good Luck and sorry you went down

What they said.

I often add other pads to the outside edges of the tegaderm to
catch seepage.

Wow…often sounds like I crash a lot…wait…only twice.

Ultimate was good for a lot of abrasions though.

Thank you. I’m glad I asked.
