Quick Poll: What is a more expensive addiction CRACK OR TRIATHLON

This has to be one of the most expensive sports out there. I am not complaining I LOVE all my tri toys (especially carbon components), but my wife keeps getting pissed off when I get back from the LBS with something lighter and new.

How much do you spend per year on your addiction

Well it used to be a lot, especially when you throw in the annual “let’s go to a far off place and do an Ironman” but then I had a mid-life and made triathlon my new career! So I may not make any money but the tax writeoff is sure as hell going to help justify the toys.

P.S. Sorry can’t tell you how much a crack habit costs these days. In the end I would wager it’s a tad more expensive than buying a P3C.

I dunno. I’ve never done crack.

Gotta say tri is more expensive over the long haul. Crack is probably more expensive and addictive in the short term, but the more you ‘invest’, the shorter the term becomes. Tri, on the other hand…the more it becomes your ‘thing’, the more you do it, and the more cash you’re gonna drop - toys, bling, entry fees. But, here’s the thing - the term becomes longer, allowing you to continue to invest more and more over a longer period of time. Pretty sneaky.

Crack is also A LOT cheaper. Least here in Miami. For the money I could get for my bike at a local pawn shop, I could get enough crack to kill myself a dozen times over … and it’s not even carbon!

I’ve never bought nor done crack, but I can tell you that this is definitely one expensive sport…it’s sick, I don’t/can’t even think about how much $$$ i’ve spent on this sport traveling here and there to do races…and lets not get started on the equipment thing… i’ve already logged about $7 grand on going to Kona this year…and the freaking race isn’t till October…sigh!! However I think it’s priceless to be there anyways, so I’ll make more $$ but i’ll likely never, ever get another chance to go to Kona!

Crack is a cheaper habit, but definately not as rewarding. I am disappoint with how expensive sprints are getting to be. I’m just not willing to spend $60 or more on a 1 hour race. I’d rather spend $20 on a local road run or go out for a group ride with the roadies for free.
