I was putting on a new cassette on my new wheels and the locking cap twists on and then gets loose-it is stripped. I am not sure how that happened, but there are little slivers of metal that you can see-it looks like the threads got messed up.
Anyway-can I buy a single cap from a shop or online? I am guessing no, but hoping yes.
I checked on a few sights, but didn’t have any luck.
Thanks.
dude. in less time than it took you to write your post, and less time it is taking me to write this post, a person can google “shimano cassette lockring” and get lots of options

Check and make sure you do not have a 11sp spacer on a 10sp cassette hub. Sometimes in that configuration you can get the lockring to contact the hub body but if you try to get the threads to engage you will mess up the lockring.
you might need a spacer. Will it tighten down OK with the cassette removed? If it’s really stripped, I’d look carefully at the hub body, it has softer metal than the lockring
should I need the spacer for the 11 spd cassette? I thought it was just for the 10 spd…
It better not be the hub-brand new wheels.

honestly, I don’t know my equipment is 9 and 10 speed and I just use a spacer on some of the bodies because the cogs are stilol loose even when I tighten up the lockring all the way. Your description of metal shavings is concerning tough and I wonder if the lockring was cross threaded and damaged the body. Step 1 is to remove the cogs and just thread the lockring in and see if it stops turning after a while.
Those stupid bodies are really expensive now, sometimes they make them out of aluminum which is just bad news
