Questions for Nastscha Badmann

I would like to ask for questions you all might have for Natascha Badmann. Thanks for any help.

“Are you pissed at Kraft for ruining what should have been another victory celebration?”

Actually, I think I already know that answer to that one… Natascha is sooo ultra positive and classy that she’ll probably say that finishing is it’s own celebration and she feels bad for Nina for having to deal with the shame of forever being labeled a cheater…

Still… worth asking.

“Is your bike for sale?”
.

Pissed, no. Disappointed, yes.

“After that, the third “stage” I went through was being sad because of what was stolen from me. They are reporting here that I now will have earned another $50,000, but that’s not important. To walk across the finish line as the winner is special. I’m also sad that I didn’t get to enjoy the awards ceremony – especially this year’s awards ceremony that was so well done. All of that would have been mine, but it was stolen from me.”

Badmann doesn’t feel that the “excuses” Kraft has given for using EPO (Erythropoietin) are forgivable.

“The excuses don’t have hands and feet,” Badmann said with her usual candour.

“I can’t feel sorry for her that she felt too much pressure,” she said. “We all have pressure in our lives, and you need to learn to handle it. She also said that she felt the penalty she was given last year was unfair, and that she didn’t understand it. Well, it’s important that you talk to the officials and learn the rules.”

Ask her about her beginnings in the sport. That’s a great story and one of the reasons she’s my favorite.

clm

is your daughter talented in sports and is she going to step in your footsteps
.

How does she ride so fast!

would you go out with me?

what is a typical training day like?

what’s a typical eating day for you?

does she ever train indoors (trainer or treadmil)?

does she take a break during the off season? and if so, what does she do?

does her husband/coach tony coach anyone else?

would you go out with me? <<

Her husband might have something to say about that…

Cathy,

How would Nina answer her children’s questions about her illegal drug use in sports?

Maybe she already has dealt with that and is not ever planning to have children. If that is the case, now she won’t have to worry about anyone looking up to her as an example to follow in her footsteps.

Then there’s the old advice, “Do as I say, not as I do.” No one ever misses the contradiction here.

In hind sight, she must have not been planning to get caught, but if she won, didn’t she realize she would be tested? Or was it that she thought her hemocrit level would be low enough to avoid detection. Isn’t “pre-testing” to ensure the level is not too high part of the protocol for “cheaters?”

It seems Nina screwed up in a lot of ways.

Good question, but she sure doesn’t look like a very happy winner, so maybe the guilt was there the minute she crossed the finish line. Check out the following photo.

Why is she your girlfriend? Or are you some important medium for us?

Thank you for all the thoughtful questions, everyone.

Gram, I’m writing an interview piece on her.

I would like to ask for questions you all might have for Natascha Badmann. Thanks for any help.

If you’re interviewing her, I think a few good questions to ask her are:

What do you contribute to your longevity in the sport, especially given the incredible demands of Ironman training and racing? It seems so many athletes are good for a small window, but you’ve been able to do consistently.

What advice do you have for those who are trying to get to that next level? Is there anything you know now that you wish you knew back when you were trying to reach this level you’ve attained?

That’s what I’m interested in knowing…

What are three or four fundamental things you’ve done to develop your mental strength?

  • Do you train with a powermeter? Do you use it in racing?
  • What’s your VO2max, your power output at LT?
  • Where do you train during the cold winter months?
  • What races will you do in 2005?

Just send her greetings from a long time fan from Bavaria. And ask her when she’ll compete in Roth.

regards,

Frank

what do you do for kicks in the off season

Does her mouth get dry from smiling all the time???

Ask her what handle she uses on Slowtwitch.com and how many private messages she has received.
