Question for training/racing in the heat

On Fri., I went for a 2 1/2 hour ride. I was trying my Cool-wings for the first time. It was 95-100 in OC/Santiago Canyon. Things seemed ok (about 45 min) until I got to the canyon. As I was riding, all of my bottles were HOT. It wasn’t enjoyable squirting hot water on my wings, nor was it quenching trying to stay hydrated with tasteless soup fro my water bottle. How do you keep your fluids cold? Do you use normal bottle with ice cubes, if so how long do they stay cold? Do you use an insulated bottle like Polar or the Camelback that was show cased on TDF? Which one is better and why? Thanks for the comments

I just got a pair of the Camelbak Podium Chillbacks (or something close to that) and they are definitely better than regular bottles. That said, I’m sure even they wouldn’t still be cold after 2 1/2 hours a few feet from pavement in 95-100 degree weather. Two bottles wouldn’t do it for me in those conditions either.

I would either:
a) strap on a camelback for more fluid and deal with the fact some of it’s going to get warm, or more likely,
b) set up my route to loop back by the cooler in my garage in which I stocked with additional chilled fluids.
