I don’t know how to do urls on this forum, but there’s an unusued Cervelo black 61 cm Soloist frame I found from Qbike (pretty nice search site), pointing to Ebay. It wasn’t coming up on Ebay search itself, because the seller has it in triathlon sporting goods. Here’s the URL:
JEEZ…
Here’s a hint for you. The next time you come across an item you might want to bid on don’t post about it on a public forum. This rule would hold doubly true if the seller was kind enough to list the item in the wrong catagory thus making it harder to find for others who might also be interested.
Finally, that frame is already WAY overpriced. Please move along.
I really couldn’t give a rats ass if someone buys it, or it goes up to 1 million dollars. I was curious if 500 bucks was “in the ballpark,” for that frame and fork.
Hi Booth, thanks for the question. I went to the link and the bike looks pretty darn good. Another good indication is that this bike is coming out of Toronto, Cervelo’s backyard, that could suggest a link with one of Cervelo’s better retailers such as Endurosport (an excellent store) or perhaps a sales sample from a model year ago or some such thing- impossible for me to tell, I’m just guessing. Gerard could tell just by looking I bet. At any rate, my guess is $500 is very, very fair for this frame. It appears to have the new Wolf fork on it too, another bonus. Looks pretty good to me.
I think asd’s comments were to “throw me off”. He’s clicking in and out of his paypal account right now.
I’m probably a marked man now by the people bidding on it:
“Those son of a bitches over there on slowtwitch, found this frame, and are talking about it: heck the seller didn’t even put it in the right category. This was a steal. Or at least it WAS A STEAL. I was going to get it for $300, but now it’s out of control. If I find the guy who started this…”
Actually, just last night I took possession of my new 04 Chorus 10 equipped Trek 5500, so another cycling related purchase would not be very welcome as far as my better half is concerned. However, some good deals are (were?) just too good to pass up.
It’s not connected to a shop or Cervelo (both of which wouldn’t be selling on eBay), but to a team we sponsor. This appears to be their spare frame, and unused. With a brand new $450 Wolf fork and $150 seatpost, $600 would mean a free frame.
Score one for ASD and Booth for helping out the Cervelo sponsored team.
Poor Jeff, started out at 100 bucks. He was sitting back there like a panther waiting to pounce at $410, licking his chops. But his luck ran out, when I saw this thing. He knew better.
Then Gerard gets on explaining how good a deal this really was. ASD jumps in. Back comes Jeff. Boom $920.
Like I said some deals are too good to pass up. I’ve got an extreme lust for the Team Soloist, so I threw up a bid. Our friend Jeff got a pretty good deal. I probably would have bid more if I hadn’t just bought another bike.
