I am having trouble getting started. I have read the Wiki but I am still not successful. I have the Garmin USB2 key installed and I am running Windows 7. I have version 3 of Golden Cheetah installed.
I understand that I should not have to pair and that I should be able to just go into realtime mode (training mode) and when I start pedalling, Golden Cheetah will pick up the devices, but this is not happening. I then tried adding the devices. The screen showed that the devices got paired successfully. I have the the garmin speed/cadence sensor, a Garmin HR strap and the Powertap. I then save it and open training mode again. Again, GC does not pick up any of the information from these devices.
Question: If you have the same devices, how did you get GC to work successfully?
When you added the devices and the wizard ran, did it seem to pickup everything ok? Was the laptop (assuming laptop) sitting in the same spot for that as when you ride? When I was first trying it, I had the laptop sitting beside the bike so I could turn the cranks and have the laptop right beside me and things worked fine. Then I moved the laptop out in front of the bike so I could see it when riding and nothing worked. It seems like the range is low - what I ended up doing was getting a USB extension cable so that the usb ant+ stick sat on the floor under my bike.
One other thing, make sure you close the ANT Agent software that gets installed for the usb stick - I don’t think GC will work with it running at the same time.
The answer is “yes” to your first part. Unless it is some background process that does not contain “Garmin” in the name, I cannot see any agent software running.
