Question About Singapore Airlines

I am flying SQ LA to Singapore next week on the all bus class flight. Before I try to track down an actual person in the airline I thought I would try the ST brain trust. Anybody know the SQ bus class policy for bikes (in a case)?

I flew return on this exact flight for the Vegas 70.3 last year. Sia are generally very good with bike boxes. I’ve never paid any surcharge on their flights. Have flown with bike boxes at least 8 times now. Do go Early to check in even if you already did the online check in. They are more likely to let things slide if they have an empty luggage hold with no luggage checked in yet.

I have flown Singapore Airlines Newark to Singapore (all business class flight); Singapore to Perth many times with a bike and have never had to pay a fee for the bike. That said, I am a Star Alliance Gold member which may be the reason that I was never charged. Having status with the airlines does yield benefits when it comes to baggage fees.

I have flown SQ many times business and economy (within Asia and to Europe) - never been charged for bike box

I moved out here to Sing in Jan flew business class from NY via frankfurt never got charged for a bike box on any of the routes

For flights to/from US/Canada, SIA luggage limits Business Class travelers to 2 pieces of luggage (each 23kg max, sum of Length, Width and Height of luggage not to exceed 62in). Krisflyer Gold members get one more piece of luggage, again within the size limitations. These rules seem quite new to me as I used to carry bike boxes from US to Singapore without any problems.

All other flights’ luggage allowances are by weight.

I guess it is best to check with SIA directly on bike boxes as their dimensions should be over these guidelines.
