Question about Continental Sprinter Tires

I just had Continental Sprinter Gatorskin tires put on my new aero wheels, and about 100 miles in I had a blow out (hole in the sidewall of the rear wheel) from a fairly modest bump. I am new to tubular tires but expected much better performance than that. The guy at the shop said that Gatorskins have a tendency to be weaker on the sidewall than regular tires, which didn’t make any sense to me.

So my question is has anyone else had this problem or know about some weakness with this particular product?

either the tire was defective or a piece of debris had previous cut it or something.

gatorskins are not delicate tires, they are about as robust as they come and very popular.

they are also very slow, putting gatorskins on your aero wheels makes them slower than training wheels with an average tire on them.

no joke.
