Looking for thoughts, suggestions, recommendations, etc. on a running shoe similar to the Brooks T7. Brooks apparently does not make this shoe any longer and I cannot find my size at any of the various on-line retailers that still have some product in stock.
The T7 was my preferred shoe for competing (not training) in the half-marathon distance. If it would be helpful to know just a bit about me before making a suggestion, I run in both low drop (0 to 4mm) and regular drop (12mm, plus or minus) on a regular basis. Brand preferences tend towards Brooks and Saucony and away from Nike, Asics, and New Balance. I am still making up my mind about Hoka and Altra shoes. I prefer a neutral shoe.
I’ve been racing in the T7 for years and love it. I am a little surprised to hear that Brooks is going to stop making it. Do you know if they are coming out with a new racing flat?
I recently made the switch after racing in the T7 for 5 years to the Pearl Izumi Road N0. The weight is comparable, although I think the N0 sole feels a little more cushioned, at least more forgiving when you step on rocks big enough to feel. I truly liked racing in the T7 but always had blister problems when racing 10K or more in the T7 sockless but haven’t had any blisters yet with the N0. I spoke to a PI rep about getting the Road N0 sole mated to with the Tri N1 upper, that could be a great shoe.
BryanD and mck414, thank you for the suggestions. The Pearl Izumi Road NOs have caught my attention and I will check them out. Already have multiple iterations of the Brooks pure shoes and have used the Pureflow for a marathon with good (for me) results.
To runbikebeer, I do not know what Brooks intends or suggests to be the successor shoe. I certainly wish Brooks would provide an answer.
