Queensboro CC Invitational RR: There was yelling

If you’re into this kinda thing:

Over 50 seconds faster than last week.

You’re making progress, and that’s what counts. Well done.

Thanks, I showed the most improvement from last week, I was really happy with the results.

Keep up the good work, Eli. I want to see 6:12’s or better out there. You just need more endurance to pound out all 5 miles at that pace.

How’s your weekly training coming along?

What does the coach have you doing during the week?

Today was a recovery, so I ran 7 miles today (62 minutes) to Columbia and back. I had to stop at Barnard and stretch out my IT band which has been bothering me a lot and the knee pain is terrible. My ankle’s also hurting a bit, but it’s nothing I didn’t expect.

Tomorrow we’re taking the shuttle down to girl’s campus (34th) @ 8:15. Then we’re doing 800 repeats on hilly loops in Central Park and cool down back to uptown. I think that the goal is 12 miles or so, and get back home by 11:15.

Wednesday is also gonna be relatively easier, 10mi tempo team run.

Thursday is prob gonna be recovery leading into Friday’s workout. We do back hill repeats (1.2 mile loop) at Van Cortlandt so that we can mentally own it. We do 8 loops with a 2 mile warmup and 2 mile cooldown so Fridays are 13.5-14 miles. Well that’s what it was the week before our first race.

Last week we put in 42 miles and that was our easy week, because he felt like he worked us too hard the week beforehand, which in turn MAY have led to low team morale. I’m doing everything I can to encourage the guys. They really doubted themselves after cranking out bad times last week and I’m happy to say yesterday was a big confidence booster.

We beat Maritime (a team who placed 3rd at the NCAA Skylines last year) and everybody was really nervous before the race. I was confident though, I knew we were going to.
