I will be in Austin this weekend for the Austin 10/20 race. My hotel is just around the corner from the Quarry Lake and it looks like a nice place to stretch my legs. Is it open to the public or does Pure Fitness have it locked down? Thanks.
I think you know the answer. It is worth the guest fee in my opinion.
Though Next Tuesday they have a splash and dash - $12 will get you in.
Nice place. Spendy. I think that the 1 day passes went up quite a bit.
Barton Springs for the win!
Pure Austin’s Quarry Lake is fantastic and well worth the ~$20 day pass to the gym.
Park at the office building complex just down the street from Pure, next toThe Roaring Fork. The parking lot dead ends behind the office building, near a deck/back patio area, right next to the lake. There is a gate there that takes you onto the path around the lake. You’ll be on the opposite side from the dock and there are plenty of places to jump into the lake from that side.
I was once told that the gate combination is 1234, but it has been open every single time I’ve used it. I’ve swam there dozens of times and never once been asked about my lack of wristband.
I’d recommend swim at Barton Springs (Free before 8am, $3 after). and Stretch your legs on the trail from there . . . priceless The water at quarry is colder than barton springs right now btw. . .

You can also head out to lake Pflugerville. I do all of my open water training there, but it can be kind of a hike. Since there isn’t a ton around to block the wind, the lake tends to have a bit of chop as well.
