Guys
HELP! I have a 6 month old Quarq Elsa GXP Power Meter and have not had any issues until yesterday. I raced a few local sprint and Oly distance races and found that the power readings were making sense and the calibration value was always within 10 counts prior to each use. Yesterday, i calibrated before i went out and spotted that the calibration value was ~650 when it previouly had been ~170. All my power readings yesterday were junk and clearly completely bogus therefore I believe that there is an issue with the meter. First idea was to replace the battery and check the diagnostics with my Garmin 510, battery level reported good but still issues with calibration and weirdly low power values
I installed Qalvin on my laptop and ran through the diagnostics and all strain gauges and reed switches are working fine, calibration from a laptop provides the same ~650 calibration.
I have updated the firmware from 19 to 22 while running through some tests with Qalvin and still no joy, its still bogus.
I need the meter for my HIM training as i am working to a power based plan. Is there something i am missing?
Thanks in advance.

Call Quarq tomorrow and work with them to diagnose. I’d start with this approach. If not here are some other considerations:
You could try a hard reset by shorting the battery case + to -. On the Elsa I think this can be done by stacking a couple of pennies and putting the cover back on.
A big zero offset change might be an indication of something changing with the spider to chainring interface. You could loosen and re-torque to spec.
The firmware update from 19 to 22 should have changed the zero offset value immediately. I updated 3 of ours and they all went from -150 to -200 to something like -10.
Did you try using Qalvin to set zero offset? Was the value the same as with the 510?
Try switching to a different battery. Otherwise call Quarq. Those guys are awesome!
I updated 3 of ours and they all went from -150 to -200 to something like -10. Mine also changed by about +200 points.
EDIT: lots of responses in one short moment, so i’ll try and cover them all here.
I haven’t tried shorting the battery out yet to do a hard reset, i have pulled the crank, lubed the BB and re-installed. Everything looks golden, i also checked the spider bolts for the chain rings (52/36 installed) and they’re good.
I have calibrated using Qalvin, 310XT and Edge 510 and they all give the same results ~650
I sent a message via the ‘contact us’ option on the Quarq page, i’ll await their response tomorrow ( i assume they work M-F as i have not seen any responses in my inbox since yesterday lunch time CST)
Thanks

I had a similar experience a couple years ago - the day after a race.
Called up Quarq - they were super helpful and sent me back a new powermeter within a week.
Just give them a call. Service is top notch.
An update for everyone who graciously commented.
I called Kai at Quarq and discussed the issue, after we had determined that i had tested as much as i could Kai asked to return the drive side crank for warranty repair / replacement. A 2 day air UPS shipping label was emailed to me, the crank packaged up and shipped out on Tuesday. It arrived at Quarq on Thursday and i received an email today (Friday) with information telling me a warranty replacement had been shipped out 2 day air via UPS.
How awesome is that for service. Great job, very satisfied that they were extremely efficient in this process

Awesome - expected nothing less.
As with so many specialty items - you get what you pay for and often times that’s the service follow up.
