Qualifying for IMFL?

I did IMFL this year and dragged my feet on registering. Anyways I have my eye on the 1/2 in California to try and qualify for a spot. What kind of time is it going to take to qualify in the Male 30-34 category. I assume that there are quite a few rolldown spots.

On qualifying: have no idea. On getting into IMFL: try a Community Fund slot. By the time you factor in travel from your location to California, cost of the race, etc., you could conceivably spend—with the entry fee to FL—more than $1k. Doing the CF will at least help others with the added fee that goes to charity.

Just a thought. But if you decide to go this route, hurry as there are but 36 slots left.

I posted a similar question a couple of weeks ago. 2 days after I finished IMFL my wife informs me she wants to do the race. My coach said its pretty easy to get a rolldown especially since most people will be trying to get 70.3 championship slots at the 70.3 races and that race is the week after IMFL so I doubt people, except Joe Bonness types, will be doing both. I am going to try at the Disney half and if we dont get the rolldowns we will go the community fund route.

There were 25 rolldown spots avail for IMFL last year at IM California Half IM. There were only about 10 to 12 people in the room that reqested them. You’re odds are very good getting a rolldown by just showing up, much less having a competitive finish time.

What is a rolldown spot? What’s the easiest way to enter IMLP for 2007? Can you enter at the 2006 race?

The easiest way is to be ready with your credit card the day after the race when they open up online registration. You’ll have about 24 hours before it closes out.

Be careful on that “24 hours” thing…that’s what I thought at FL, well perhaps 10-12 hours anyway based on the previous year…and as well all know it went just a tad quicker than that.

Sit yourself in front of a computer, even if you’re at the race, and register that way the second it opens up and you’ll get in. IIRC, the entries at Florida were something like 90% online and 10% in person, give or take.

Thanks for the info on entering. Can someone tell me what a rolldown spot is. I’m a bit slow on learning the lingo I guess.

The rumor is that IMNA will no longer be giving away slots at various halfs around the country. This came from Keith Jordan, race director for the Mooseman and Timberman races. Last year both races had slots to various IMNA races, but they have all been pulled for 2006. Can anyone confirm this?

Don’t know if it’s resolved in that thread or not but there’s ongoing discussion on the topic.
