Quad Tendon Pain Cycling

So I hurt my quadricep tendon a few weeks ago from doing a hard hill workout (on the bike). Didn’t know it so went out the next day and tried to do a ride but it hurt a lot so only did :30. Took a day off.Came back for a few days. Still hurting. Took a week off. A lot of icing. Came back for 2 days both really easy on rollers. Feels a lot better but I can still feel it. Gonna take some more time off.

Anyone else have quadricep tendon problems from cycling? It’s only in my left knee. What else can I do to help it heal besides icing/stretching/self massage?

I had quad tendinitis which was essentially eliminated within days from acupuncture, I was amazed at how well it worked.

Mine has been acting up the past few weeks … I believe more due to running than cycling. I noticed it flare up after a particularly long (for me) run.
I’ve kept working out so it hasn’t got better and maybe a bit worse. Had a long run yesterday and I’m seriously hobbling around today.
I think I’m going to give it a week, ice it, no running, maybe some light cycling in the gym and see how it progresses.
I’d be curious to hear how yours goes and if you get any good ideas, especially about how to stay active while you are resting it (if you do). I think I will focus on swimming and some gym time in the meantime. I’ve never tried pool runnin though that might work too. Good luck with it!

Digging up an old thread here, but in need of advice…

Got hit with the Quad tendonitis diagnosis yesterday… doctor prescribed rest from all activity for 10 days, and then 6 weeks off running and cycling (swimming ok). Up until Kansas 70.3 if would only hurt when cycling, right now it hurts walking.

Whats worked for others who have got hit with this? RICE is all well and good, but I’m like everyone else and will go crazy if I am not doing something.

I also have flights, hotel, race fees, etc for the Seattle Marathon in exactly 10 days… (if it doesn’t hurt to run, I’ll do it as a long training run, my A race isn’t till fall)

I had the same issue years ago before IM Wisconsin. I couldn’t run, I could bike without pain but it hurt like hell afterward, and I couldn’t kick when swimming or push off the wall with my left foot.

I found accupuncture to be most help- noticed relief after the first treatment. Lots of icing, stretching and later on ART.

Good luck

New here, and I know this is an old thread, but I found this helpful:
