Looks like our very own STer qcassidy (Andrew Hodges) IS the IM 70.3 AG World Champion, going 3:59:15 (25 / 2:12 / 1:17). He placed 13th overall!!! Big congrats to him.
Isn’t he one of Paulo’s guys?
1:17 run…hmmmm I think I see a pattern here.
WOW -
Just checked the results - Now that is impressive.

Obviously I told Andrew to go slow on the bike in order to have a great run…
Congratulations, Paulo.
Paulo,
Congratulations to you and qcassidy. I’ve seen his training up close all season long and have been deeply impressed with the program you’ve worked out for him. He was already a great talent, and now you’ve helped to bring him to the next level.
qcassidy–what a phenomenal race! You really earned it. I hope that you’ll give us a detailed race report and also tell everyone a bit about your and Paulo’s approach to training. There are a ton of good lessons there for everyone to learn. Congrats on a fine performance and a solid season.
2:12 is hardly slow, it seemed to be the perfect speed to ensure a good run. There is much to be learned by this approach.
IMO, his swim was the most impressive split of all…17th best time of the day and that’s all come from lots of hard work over the past 12-16 months.
Congrats to you both - I got to watch him come across the finish line and they announced him as the first age grouper. Looks like he had a great day!
You aren’t kidding. I’ve been to the pool with Andrew a number of times this year and have been soundly spanked each time. He’s there pretty much every day banging out laps and it really paid off for him.
I think he was teasing . . .
One word:
astonishing.
Solid in all 3 events - and that is where it counts as the final clock does not lie. GREAT job and run - always about the run, sorry guys.
congrats Andrew, Awesome race
.
congrats!!! would love to read a rr if you’re willing to write one, qcassidy ![]()
You may be his agent, but I was getting him chicks after the race telling the hot chicks he was the overall winner. They were flocking to him, you almost thought he was the jonnyo.
Oh and you owe me 7.5% for me “helping” him out.
Will a “Thanks, desert dude!” be enough?
I’ll ponder. But I have some ideas for you for him. Email me later this week.

Andrew is indeed a great talent and a pleasure to work with. He worked very hard this season and it’s good to see all that effort paying off. I think it is only the beginning of better things to come ![]()
Guys (and girls),
Thanks! Unlike Desert Dude and Rappstar, I’ve been away from the comp the last couple of days. The race went really well and it was nice to see the hard work pay off. I’ll have a full report tomorrow (hopefully w/ some pics from DD).
