So glad these are on YT so I can wake up at a normal time and watch straight through.
Anyone know if Paula is actually going to be able to compete after her injury issues?
The only DNS we know of is Els Visser who has said her last race was today (Busselton) - she was #5.
And Kyle Smith broke his collar bone about 10 days ago.
Here’s my simple set of ‘deciders’ (from the main T100 2025 thread):
Whoever of the three wins, wins (LCB wins tiebreak)
If another (none of the three) wins:
** if Waugh finishes second, she wins;
** if Derron finishes second, she wins only if Waugh is fourth or lower;
** if LCB is second, she wins if Waugh is #4 or lower.
Other scenarios (where one of these three finish neither first nor second) are as
unlikely as athletes not being able to count to 8 two races running.
And Meg McDonald:
and this one has just dropped:
Meg McDonald is my new YouTube favorite watch. It’s so charmingly banal and she makes me laugh.
Race discussed on the pod (from 33 mins):
The unofficial pro tri news spokesman strikes again
Their season grande finale is on… a Friday?! Very odd.
I go with Derron and Wilde for the win.
The 70.3 Bahrain was raced on Friday last week. Somebody tell us why?
Friday is the sunday of arabic countries.
in boxing this is like the world champ from a weaker organisation ( in this case ironman when it comes to middle distance, despite being the 800 kg gorilla overall ) fighting against the guy from the better organisation for the world title, to bring all the world champ belts into one.
the 70.3 world champ ( contracted by t 100) vs the best middle distance guy Wilde.
I bet he cant wait to see the back of this year!
Weekend is Friday and Saturday I believe, they could have scheduled the event on the Saturday instead, more eyeballs on its streaming platform?
Unlikely scenario, but Georgia Taylor Brown, can definitely win this, and Jess Learmonth could finish 2nd (she says she has been training more consistently than any other time this year and seems still full of race enthusiasm, per her last podcast). Others like Genlte and Perterer or Spivey could also sneak in there.
So it’s not a foregone conclusion in my opinion that the 3 contenders for final podium will dominate this race.
On the men’s side, interested to see if Luis can back up his recent Bahrain form, especially his run. He beat Vilaca who is always just a few seconds off first place in WTCS races, so it must have been a really good run. And I will bet on a victory from Geens. I don’t think he’s that far off from Wilde as so many think.
Very excited for this race !
Vince said he struggled on the run after about 15km (incorrect pacing), so fingers crossed he’ll nail that on Friday. Although my money is on Jelle and Hayden, I would love to see Vince go out with a bang!!!
Friday is a day off in the Middle East (minus Dubai, where it is a half day off), so lots of racing there is on Fridays
