I just had installed a Vision base bar and the HED s bend clip ons. To answer the important question, yes, it looks really cool. MUCH lower than my previous position. Is there a spacer that I can use under the elbow pads of the clip ons? Are there any other “pads” that are interchangeable with the stock pad?
Nothing like putting the cart before the horse and asking all these questions after making the purchase.
Thanks for any help.
Yes and yes. I think most people use the spacers if they have the deep s-bends rather than the shallow, but to each his own. HED should be able to get you the spacers.
As to pads, I put on some profile pads because I didn’t like the thin rubber of the HED pads. Seems to work fine.
Thanks. Which profile pads did you use? I have the F-19 pads (from old bars), but I don’t think they fit. Maybe I’m just an idiot and didn’t have them turned the right way?
The pad depends on the shape of your pad holder. My HED bars came with sort of an ergo shaped pad holder, and I believe it’s the F19s that we put on. Looks sort of like this ?

If you have the smaller, more square pad holder, I understand that Syntace C2 pads work pretty well on those.
I originally put the spacer below my arm pads on my HED s-bends, but I have the carbon shallow bends and the angle was too great for my wrist and I had some pain. I removed the spacers and pain went away. (I ride about 115 miles a week on them) I love them! As far as the pads, I had some misgivings about the stock pads from HED, but I tried them and I really like them, however I was going to replace them with my Syntace Pads if they were not comfy.
As far as getting the old pads to stick, I was just going to put some self adhesive velcro on the cup/pad holder and then just put the old pad in place.
