Purchasing a new frame

I had the nasty experience of getting hit on my road bike two weeks ago. I am fine, but the bike suffered…ok, it’s totalled. Well, once all the insurance stuff is settled, I should have around $1,000.00 to spend on a frame, and some components. I am using some of the old parts from the bike since they are still fine.

I would like to know if anyone knows of any shops online that have good customer service, where I can order a good frame.

I am currently looking into the Tsunami frames from Chucksbikes. I have already purchased one bike from him and he was great. Does anyone know of any other dealers online that have good frames for ~$500.00 or $600.00?

I just want aluminium. No fancy exotic materials required here.

Word on the street is that leader makes some decent frames. They are pretty cheap too.

I LOVE my Leader frame. Bought in August, and I’m still trying to get my position dialed in, but this frame kicks ass. If you’re not a carbon freak and/or you want a terrific aluminum frame, you cannot beat the Leader 735TT. $550 for frame, fork and Cane Creak IS-6 headset. Best purchase I ever made.

FWIW, I’ve seen on their site that the 780TT is “coming soon.” I think the main difference is that is has carbon seat stays. I haven’t checked in a while, so it may be out by now. Check out http://www.leaderbikeusa.com/

Very good. Got married and enjoying life actually. Well, except for certain mishaps during training like getting hit and a nasty cold that was like a pneumonia. Some crazy stuff.

By the way, congratulations on Hawaii. I bet you are feeling great.

Hm. Leader…I looked into those a while ago. I have to give them a call to get one. That sounds like a great deal.

I just checked their site. Those TT frames like pretty darn solid. How are the horizontal drop-outs? Do they come with effective adjustment screws?

yes… and the rear wheel cut out works… I think it’s hard to beat this frame for the money spent.

They are terrific. Work like a charm.

Yes, but, since I’m a real moron sometimes, I thought they were water bottle boss screws. They are the same size as the water bottle boss screws, but they screw into the dropouts to set the wheel position in the cutout.

The frames do not ship with ANY instructions… or at least, mine didn’t. It’d be nice to have a LITTLE documentation to tell you what everything is… but, I figured it out… with some help from Leader. :slight_smile:

Don’t overlook new or used frames on ebay. I purchased my P2K frame there for $500.

I am weary of ebay. I hear horror stories about it. I think the Leader frame will be my choice though. It sounds very good.
