Public Pools in Dublin

Hi guys,

I`m heading to Dublin for a week-long holiday this Sunday.

Can anyone suggest a nice pool for a proper swim workout?
What are your experiences in Dublin for Tri training in genereal?
(Bike will stay and home and I will only do 2 short run workouts around the Airbnb)

We are staying in Churchtown, if that says anything to you.

Thanks a lot,
Chris

Anyone?

St Patrick’s weekend so may find public pools have reduced opening hours.

If staying in Churchtown could look to a pool in Templeogue (https://tcsp.ie/wp/), Terenure (https://www.terenureswimmingpool.ie/) or Rathmines (http://swanleisure.ie/swimtimetables.php)

Run wise - could look to Marlay park. Or if you had a car up the Dublin mountains for a trail run around Hellfire club.

Very windy here recently. Wet and cold too.

Evening Masters sessions in Templeogue are good, so too are the morning sessions in Rathmines.

Plenty of options when it comes to running…Phoenix park is popular…check put http://greatruns.com/dublin-parkrun/
.

while the pool in rathmines is convenient for you its often just a 15 meter pool and often busy.

this pool is 400 m from trinity college and usualy not busy after 8 am and 5-8 pm they also have a watt bike in the gym.

marley park is great for your location as well as bushy park . but i would also recommend to run at howth ( trail run , take the dart ) and also bull island ( hard sand quite good for runining and both locations have great views ( its bus 130 to get there ) in fact anywhere along the coast is nice for a run
and saturdays 9.30 you have many park runs around dublin .

This 25m pool is very close to where you are staying. I used to use it when I lived in Dublin.

you can also run to Marley Park from where you are staying

Thanks to everyone. We will definitely visit Howth but probably for a long walk sintead of a run.

This one appears to be the closest to our Airbnb with a 1.4k walk.

Two questions remain.

  1. Do I have to book specific hours in advance or can I just show up?
  2. How long can I stay at a time? If it says 9:00-9:45 Public Swim, can I only use the pool for this 45 mins or can I alsostay during other courses (e.g. Child Lessons or Aqua Fit)?

Thanks again!

Looks like there’s a pretty active FB page. Have you sent a message w your questions?
