Public Nudity

Don’t get excited, there are no pictures with this. So here’s my quandry. I have no problem with nudity, mine or most anyone else’s (although I found that scene with the guy running up to their car naked in Sideways rather disturbing). Anyway, I shower and dress in locker rooms more often than in the privacy of my own home. After a Masters workout there are a bunch of us showering and dressing and conversing normally, but other times when I swim alone, its the general public, not athletes. I notice that many of these people shower in their swim suits and change in the stalls. So I’m wondering does it bother them that I don’t? At my gym there are 2 changing rooms with curtains, but I generally don’t walk the extra 5 feet to use them. I’m not sure if I’m offending people or not…kj

No, I don’t think it’s an athlete/civilian difference, but rather a personal comfort level. At the YMCA I go to you’ll find people from both groups in either camp. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I am sorry to hear that, as I thought it was one the funniest bloody scenes in the whole pretty damn funny movie! not the naked part specifically, but how the naked dope got himself into his pathetic predicament in the first place! you didn’t find it funny? wow…

I’m not saying it wasn’t funny, it was hilarious, but that’s not the typical body you see naked in the movies. Not to mention it was full frontal and running. It was startling…kj

One way to solve the drafting problem , women unfortunately dressed , guys naked , eeeewwwww !

Since we’re on the topic, are there changing areas during IM races?

In another thread, posters were discussing changing shorts between transitions. Just wondering if this is the case.

I believe there are because there is sepecifically a no nudity rule…kj
.

Well I have to laugh because I have a major nudity phobia. I’m a shower in my suit type, though I don’t really care if anyone sees me naked when I change. I don’t like conversing with naked people. I really, really hate it when the naked lady bends over, or shaves her legs in the public shower. But no worries for you, I know I’m the weird one and I usually just laugh at myself. My phobia is a major joke among my friends because my job deals with nudity all day long.

if nudity bothers you, you should NEVER do Quelle Challenge in Roth…

Why?

I did Wildflower and was just terrified that the naked aid stations might put me over the edge. I got two guys in thongs. While I appreciated their “sportmanship”, well, eewww.

Pat

unique tent to change…guys and gals altogether…
swimming at the lake before the race is fun too…outside showers, people having their shower naked in front of everyone…no big deal…

Naked aid stations?? I gotta do that race…kj

Oh yeah, I’m not there.

It’s a great race but to many people’s disappointment they’ve “cleaned” it up so my friend who traveled all the way from Illinois to see coed breasts went home without achieving his goal. I did love the race and plan to do it next year. It’s a really beautiful setting.

I tend to think it is an athlete/non-athlete thing, at least partially. It is too much work to stay shy when you are in the lockerroom 1-2 times a day, 7 days a week. Eventually, you just do whatever is quickest!

Nudity doesn’t bother me. I actually consider myself a “naked person”. If I’m home alone, I’m probably naked. Hell, I even did a 5K once that was called The Figleaf 5K and it was a clothing optional race. Yes, I raced it in the nude and after that race, I’m really, really thankful for compression shorts.

It’s weird, I don’t mind being naked around members of my swim team. If my friends/co-workers (who are very much non-athletes) happen to work out at the same time as me, I will do my best to avoid letting them see me naked. I don’t want my non-athlete friends saying “Damn, she should be a lot thinner for being a triathlete.” I don’t care if the girls on my swim team think I’m fat. LOL.

I have noticed regular people at the health club will go to outrageous lengths to avoid random strangers seeing them naked. Most women are like jr. high girls. They’ll sit there and wait for a changing stall.

Its funny how often I run into people at the grocery store (or wherever) and they say “I hardly recognize you with clothes on”. The only time I flet a little strange was when a client of mine was talking to me in the gym locjer room about work stuff I was handling for her. I thought that was a weird conversation to have naked…kj

I would never run naked. Remember that Seinfeld episode, some activities are not attractive naked. Not to mention the breast issue. Sports bras are made constrictive for a reason…kj

Man, I need to get into your health club. At my health club the public nudity is endless----drying hair, putting on makeup, shaving legs, cutting toenails. Can’t they just cover up? I know, I know, I’m the weird one but I just don’t like seeing that. LOL
