Hi all. As a disclaimer, I am a distributor of the direct sales company called Lifevantage. I was on the product ‘Protandim’ for 15mo before becoming a distributor, so I feel I had plenty of time to do my own due diligence before involving myself in the business. On that note, I am not here to sell products. I want to raise awareness about a product that was covered by ABC Primetime in 2005, studied by at least 25 universities, and reduces oxidative stress by an average of 40% in 30 days. I really don’t care if you decide to take it or not because the company is growing with or without us. If you decide you want to try something, I can accommodate you. If not, you just learned about a product that is creating a paradigm shift in the way we currently practice medicine and you’ll see it being used increasingly as time goes on. I look forward to a great discussion, but please keep it positive! If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to find the answers for you

Let’s get started with the first and foremost piece of information–the ABC Primetime news segment done on Lifevantage by John Quinones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVqJb-PkHcw
Damn… The secret is finally out. Amazing we haven’t heard about this before. Must’ve been the liberal media suppressing that incredible story from “Primetime” from, um, 2005?
Hi Ex-cyclist. I don’t appreciate negativity just for the sake of being negative. I do appreciate good science-based Q&A though. I’m only offering the info…what you do with it is up to you guys.
If I may ask you a question, what kinds of discussions do you like to see on this site?

If you like science based Q&A, perhaps you could peruse the links Veganerd supplied and then explain to us how Protandim can be said to work for anything given that there have only been 2 human studies, neither of which was a clinical trial, and the last one failed miserably as Protandim did worse than the placebo. That is a discussion I would like to see.

You are in the wrong place then. People don’t like people thinking they are suckers. You are trying to sell a product, so if you come here you better bring your A game because you are going to get hammered. In fact that has already happened. This product is crap MLM.
You have ignored this study. The only one not paid for by the company making the product.

Since you want to start a new thread I’m going to come make fun of you here, too. I LOVE the highlighted parts. Love them!!! I mean, if you don’t care then why are you selling this rubbish here again? Will you accommodate me by selling me something, perhaps? But you are not here to sell? I’m confused.
One study so far has shown an in vitro upregulation of glutathione production by 300%. I realize that’s minimal at best, but researching into other works on glutathione ties into faster recovery. You’d have to pursue that avenue on Pubmed. It would be interesting what you find, so let me know if you look into the effect of glutathione on race recovery
Sorry guys. I’ve asked someone more knowledgeable than me for help on addressing the concerns that Dr Hall presents. It may take a bit before I get an answer back, but I’ll definitely let you know what I hear. Thanks for the inquiry
Ok, so as I understand it, you are unable to give me a $/watt (or second, I’m not picky) cost breakdown of your refreshing supplemint? That is dissapointing but entirely reasonable.
Perhaps then, you can help me with this. During my “A” race, I utilize the assistance of a pace gorilla (real thing, check it out here on the forum via a quick search my new member friend.) He has to run intervals, pacing as many athletes as possible. So, obviously, recovery is going to be super bananas important to him in between intervals to keep him going well into our 16th and 17th hours of the race. He does this to make sure the race referees are able to give out their quota of penalties, much like the police, only very different. So, he needs my help. He does not want to train at all, as that requires work. Seeing as he is free from drug testing (as no one on pubmed has yet determined proper gorilla drug testing protocols that I could find via a search), can he:
Take your supplement (obviosuly, he is a man in a gorilla suit, I’m guessing you have not tested your supplement on aniamals, as that would be cruel.)
Be sponsored by your company (he is willing to carry a sign in his one free hand. His other hand will be needed for bananas, high fives, and pointing out cheaters obviously) He will require no monetary sponsoring, only free supplements. You may need to hide the supplements in bananas. He is very anti-doping.
And what type of gains will he see? 300% increased recovery? You got to help me out, I don’t know what that means, I am an engineer, not a scientist damn it! Can he pace 300% more people? That would be awesome.

Huh. And that study (Synergistic induction of heme oxygenase-1 by the components of an antioxidant supplement Protandim) was done by Joe McCord. And surprise surprise, Joe McCord is one of the executives of LifeVantage (Your company).

From the Lifevantage website:
“100% of Gorillas recommend Protandim.”
I know how you feel on that study because I actually feel the same way: unimpressed. Different universities look at Protandim on how it affects issues they study, so apparently someone was interested in this random topic. It didn’t help the company’s case, but it was proven that Protandim didn’t help with their issue. I’m told that Minnesota is studying type 2 diabetes I believe and that they should publish within the next year, so it will be interesting to see what they find clinically since there are many anecdotes of diabetics seeing positive benefits
