Profile Design HSF/Aero HC 800+

I have this installed on my triathlon bike and find that straw extremely hard to suck the water -am I the only one? Thinking about cutting off the bite valve has anyone done this?

Yes! Thank you for confirming one of the issues I encountered with this bottle. The straw for this bottle is the worst. I changed it to a longer straw that comes with the X-Lab hydroblade bottle. I had to cut it a lot and the suction was better but where it inserts in the bottle and where the liquid sits based on the angle of the bars, not a good fit. And don’t even get me started on trying to refill the bottle while riding, again, with where that hole is, where the liquid sits and the angle of the bottle, a giant mess.
Watching one of the Race Week videos from Lionel Sanders, I noticed that Taylor Knibb had one on her bike during a training ride and I was curious to see her set up at Oceanside. However, come race time, this p.o.s. bottle was replaced by a regular bottle, which is what I did as well because of all the issues with this bottle.

If you’re having issues with the angle, that is what these are for https://profile-design.com/collections/front-systems/products/hsf-bta-wedge-set

The issue you’re both reporting with the straw is because of the bite valve, it only works when squeezed on the tall axis, if you try on the short axis it doesn’t do much. There is a new bite valve in the works.

I swapped my bite valve for one Speedfil makes.

All good information. Thank you. I’ll order more parts for this never ending front hydration debacle. If only PD would make a shallower aeria foil for the smaller QR V-PR.

Is this a somewhat universal part? Do you think it would also work on the 51 Speedshop front end? I have the same issue with my Torpedo.

It will fit on any standard bottle spacing mount. So yes, will work on 51S.

There is a new model bottle coming that has sizes to suit down to the smallest tri bikes. But it won’t look nicely integrated if you have the Vision TFA setup or an Aeria Ultimate stem

I was actually looking at getting the HSF/Aero HC 800+. Do you know when the new version will be available? Also, will that fit Cervelo’s P5 EX10 bars? Thanks!

New bottle isn’t a BTA like the HSF 800. It’s in the style of the HSF Aeria. None of the fast bottles fit on Cervelo Mono bars - you only have BTA systems as options.

That makes a lot of sense. Will they integrate nicely with any set up other than the original ones that you’d assume they would try to fit with?

The new bottle is pitched towards mid level bikes, so it’s designed to be tidy on the 1/Seventeen standard stem. Or there is a new 31.8 stem with hidden cable routing on the way
Doing something to help the VPR is on my list but don’t hold your breath, lead times on everything are long so you won’t be seeing it this season or next.

Anyone experiencing dripping witht their 800+? It’s driving me crazy because my front end is tilted so the bottle slopes. The contents drip from the screw lock and its all gone before I hit 10-15 kms of my ride.

I think I lost a part (I think a rubber seal / o-ring) that prevents any spillage.

Appreciate any help or suggestions to fix this problem.

The bottle sloping is what the BTA wedges address https://profile-design.com/collections/front-systems/products/hsf-bta-wedge-set

If you’ve got that bad a leaking problem you may have overtightened the cap and damaged the threads - I suggest you get in touch with USA customer service to discuss the issue
.

I have the old FC35. I ditched the bite valve and never looked back. There’s a little dribble here and there but nothing compared to the mess from refilling. Even my camelbak bite valve, which is way better, is a nuisance when I’m pedaling hard (MTB)

I got the recommendation that this BTA would fit on the Shiv (current model) in a different thread, which I unfortunately cannot find right now. However, trying to install it today, I cannot see how it would fit; not BTA due to the built in straw, not on the top tube due to the PD bottle being too long and reaching beyond the steering column.

I am I misinterpreting the advice I got, i.e. has anyone got this to work? Or are there other e.g. Profile Design or XLAB BTA systems that do work?

Based on image, at least XLAB Torpedo on top tube is doable.

How does the straw stop it from being BTA? Do mean the Shiv bladder straw?

Correct, sorry if being unclear: BTA mount is not possible as the required position would cover the bladder straw and the hole from which it protrudes.
