Looking at replacing my old J-19 Cups with some newer ones. Does anyone have experience with both the Ergo and Race cups by Profile Design?
Looks like the Race ones are higher and narrower so a more locked in feeling? Potentially more comfortable?
I don’t have a super narrow position/am using a Speedfill A2 BTA if that affects anything.
If there’s not much of a difference would probably go for the Race ones.
There are 10mm and 5mm pads. I designed the Race to fit a skinny athletes arm with the 10mm pad - the 5mm pad gives just enough extra room to fit a scaled up person like me. Some people don’t like the tight feeling, others love the locked in feel. I used to make tight cups out of alloy pipe for the latter group.
I’ve never had bad feedback on the Ergo - that was always intended to be a great generalist. The Race is a specific solution.

Feel like I slide around with the J-19 sometimes so will give the Race a go.
I have both and for outside riding I prefer the race version. They provide a very secure feeling. On my indoor training bike I use the normal ergo cups.

The race ones are very tight. I couldn’t fit my forearms in them and I don’t have big arms…just something to consider. Not comfortable at all at least for me.

That can be true. I have very small arms and they fit perfectly. But for people with more muscle it might be too tight.

I used the race cups for some time and they were great for me being so locked in. I was even able to put velcro straps across the back from top corner to top corner to lock in more like a cup would which helped in a more mantis position.
