Profile Carbon Stryke Question?

Anyone know what the minimum length would be for these bars? I’ve checked the website and all it says is “120mm Length Adjustment.”

Thanks for any help you can offer!

We have the '02 version on my wifes TT-bike but it appears that the '04 product uses the same (or similar) clamping mechanism so the following should be applicable. Short and to the point - if you do not mind cutting the length of the carbon aero extensions, then you can pretty much go gonzo and shorten them all the way to where the extension starts its upward bend for the bar ends! Ironicaly, all the threads on position of late had me eyeing the way I have my wife setup on her TCR Aero and I realized last Thursday that she is still too stretched out! I have decided to get her a seatpost with with zero layback like the Thomson Masterpiece as well as the new VisionTech base bar/carbon extensions/brake levers this week!

I am also thinking of going with the profile carbon stryke. Will I be able to adjust the armrest pads behind the bar. If not I will probably go with the syntace C2 Ultralight. All your advise and experience is helpful. Thanks

You know I have not had to look at the elbow pads on my wifes bike in quite some time but I think the Carbon Stryke either uses the F19 armrest or something similar:

Based on that image, and the fact that the bracket that the elbow pads attach to is offset slightly tot he rear, I think the answer to your question is yes but here is a link to the Carbon Stryke bars on Profiles site and includes multiple images: http://www.profile-design.com/product_pages/clip_carbon_stryke.html

Cut Carbon? How do you do this without destroying the bars?

Will I be able to adjust the armrest pads behind the bar.

I’ve fiddled with these bars at the shop, and I think I’ll end up getting them later this summer. The armrests are very adjustable, both in terms of width and distance fore and aft of the base bar. As mentioned above, you can get the extensions as short as you want, and fairly long as well (although not as long as a size large C2).

The Strykes can be set up as either traditional tri aero bars (ie, steep setup) or as “shorties” on a road bike. A very versatile bar.

The only drawback I can see is that you are stuck with the armpads being 4-5 cm above the basebar. If you need your pads down on top of the basebar to get even lower, the Strykes won’t work.
