Profile armrest....maddening!

So my last set of clips was an old pair of T2’s which still had the sticky/velco pad. Actually never had any issues with it, but apparently they wanted to change.

Just bought some T1’s which I love, but darn it if I’m not having maddening issues getting this fancy new pad system to stay snug! I has two velcro straps that fit through loops. First of all, when the pad is seated dead center of the arm rest it’s literally impossible to thread the straps properly. Secondly, no matter how tight you put the straps within 15 minutes the arm pads are 30 degrees sideways. Total cluster bang for me. I’m sure I’m doing something simple wrong, but if not is there a company that makes after market arm pads so I can throw this POS system out?

Forget the velcro straps. They suck. Just strap it down in the position you want and run some electrical tape very tightly in a loop around the pad towards the outside. Works great.

Ok thank goodness I thought maybe I had lost my mind, which is entirely possible.

So you are saying run the tape East to West? Did you take off the ‘sleeve’ that the are pads come in…the sleeve that basically makes the velcro straps work. Just a nekkid arm pad?

You know what else they did? The bolt that allows you to adjust the roll of the are rest to the inside or outside? That used to be underneath so you could tweak it w/o having to take the arm rest off. With the T1 you have to completely disassemble the 2 arm rest bolts to get to that bolt on top now.

Someone at Profile will have to explain these ‘upgrades’ to me b/c I call them engineering wet dreams.

I have the t2’s and that bolt stripped. So I had to replace it with a ghetto nut/bolt contraption. Just be glad yours works…

Yea I am, but having come from a system with the T2 that seemed to work perfectly well I just had to scratch my head at these changes. Oh well, thanks for the tip.

could always go with a Cee Gee velcro’d pad too.

I second the Cee Gees. I just got them because the Profile pads don’t sufficiently cover the entire base plate, which is important for me because I like to rest my elbows on the very rear of the plate. I’ve only done one trainer ride with the Cee Gees, but my initial impression are positive.
