I have a Profile Aerodrink bottle and bracket. I can mount the bottle several ways and at various heights using the bracket (with and without and the extra hinges) or directly to my aerobars.
Does anyone know (or since this is Slowtwitch - care to guess):
Whether the bottle should be mounted as low on the aero bars as possible in order to shield the headtube and cables?
Or, should I raise the bottle up to block the stem and fill the gap between my forearms?
How about raising it even higher so it blocks above the stem?
Lastly, any thoughts as to whether its best to mount it as close to the fists as possible or is back towards the stem better?
I’d imagine as close to the headtube as possible (it’s a legal “fairing” this way, whereas with a big gap between the bottle and the headtube, probably less so - I think about this conceptually like trying to tuck the rear wheel as close to the seattube as possible. I could of course be way wrong too), and as low as possible.
Mine rests on the stem/faceplate, and the bottom is only about 1cm above my front tire.
(of course, this is just about the only way I could mount it given my S-bends, but it seems to work nicely for hydration and aero; or at least there’s seemingly no negative aero impact from having it there)
I can picture the most aero being as close to the head tube as possible. And, I can picture getting it as out front as possible as somehow helping as well.
Low makes sense but I can imagine that raising it as high as possible somehow blocks or diverts air from flowing into the “cup” formed by the hips and torso.
So, unless otherwise informed, I will mount it so its easiest to use without incurring the risk of poking my eye with the straw.
Hi, I have Vision Tech aerobars with 2-3/8" space between them. Can you pls measure your Aerodrink + bracket and let me know if it would fit between my bars? …and if not - what’s the minimum space required between the aerobars? I realize i may have to move my computer forward a bit.
Mine are narrower than those and it fits just fine. It can actually be used with a bracket, or if you have really narrow bars it just sit on the bars where it bulges (usually with a rubber bank to keep it secure).
