Hi,
I am looking for a part time job that will allow me to train as a professional, but also work during my down time to make some extra money.
If anyone has some advice please let me know. I have a college degree.
What sort of advice are you seeking? Types of role? Types of contract?
I’d expect there’s a world of additional information needed for anyone to make a useful contribution on this. For example:
What’s the degree?
What, if any work experience do you have?
Where are you located and is that flexible?
Will work have to fit around training or vice-versa?
What sort of pay level do you need/are you expecting?
Be a coach /semipink
.

For someone with a college degree and searching for a job (even if its part time), I expect a lot more than the above.

You haven’t dealt much with the under 25 crowd that hasn’t been exposed to the real workforce yet, have you?
I’m surprised him mom isn’t writing this message for him.
I honestly mean no disrespect to the OP, it’s more a observation of that generation and the challenges they are faced with being unprepared due to helicopter parents and a failed education system that make them all “winners”.
He clearly has a drive to perform as a athlete, it’s just a matter of focusing that on a professional career.
We do need a lot more information to give career advice.
Physical therapist, teaching, nursing, probably give the most flexibility for work/training balance. If you can’t find 30 hours a week to train as a single male with those 3 professions, your doing it wrong.
Can you do sales? that’s another option.
There’s also waiting tables. Train all day, earn tips at night or work some split shifts 4 days a week and make those recovery days.
Agree with posts. You need to provide a lot more information to be helped on this forum. Additional information could include: Are you a recent college grad with zero work experience or are you out of school for a few years? What are your geographical considerations? Are you a pro now or thinking of becoming one? Any relationship with a bike shop that might need a part-timer? Do you have an updated resume? What have your efforts been to date? Have a LinkedIn profile? Have your resume on CareerBuilder, Monster, or Indeed? Like others have said, you need to provide more information and might need to be a a little more professional with your efforts.
I work at a chiropractor 2 nights a week and substitute teach. Both allow for some flexibility. You can pick the days that you want to teach, and if you are in a high school it is a fairly easy gig if you are in a good district (i.e. without disciplinary problems). At least in NJ you only need to have a certain number of college credits to sub teach, no teaching certificate needed, as well as a clean background check. It is decent money.
A downside to working part time is no health care benefits. Something to think about if you aren’t lucky enough to still be on your family health insurance policy. Basically my entire monthly income goes towards healthcare/health insurance premium at the moment.
Other things you can do: house sit, pet sit, babysit, coaching. Those are great cash-paying gigs.
Do you have any foreign language skills?
And like everyone else has said, more details might help. Link to a Linkedin profile could be of use as well.
One other thought, have you reached out to any of your sponsors to see if your skill set could be of use to them in anyway?
a few elites/pros i know in socal work as valet drivers. lots of running between cars.

Yes I actually do. I’m only 29 and I’m very aware of what comes out of college these days.
Uber driver. Lots of flexibility!

Don’t call yourself pro, because you might upset real pros.
-
Train good\more\better\smarter. What down time?, Stay full time Pro that doesn’t need extra crappy jobs, be athlete, not Uber driver athlete.
-
Quit being “Pro” or change the name to “semi wanna be pro”. since you are not training well enough to sustain your living, do you think having less time for training due to work, will make you better Pro?
-
If above is no go, start selling Virtual Trophies to other athletes http://www.virtualtrophies.com/

I’m not as young as the OP, but I’d disagree wholesale with this generalization.
My peer group was raised with far higher expectations, training, and even discipline than any of our parents’ did. Just look at what young adults have to do today to survive compared to back then - get billed for $100K+ college educations, college prep starting in middle school, summer activities geared for resume building, crazy home prices, world competition for jobs, and to top it all off, when we interview them, we expect them to somehow have enough free time to be a well-balanced, ‘easygoing normal’ person despite all that activity. Yeah, they have it easy.
I get sick and tired of hearing “these kids should WORK their way through college like I did to pay for it” - yeah, and your college was what - $5k/year compared to $45k/year, and the going student work wage back then is essentially identical to what it is today? Yeah, that’ll work.
How is about being a personal trainer? But, yeah, we need waaaaay more info to give you any meaningful advise.
Lot’s of gullible people here I see…
Look into substitute teaching.
Seriously.

I’m an elementary teacher. Please tell me what I’m doing wrong since I can’t possibly find the time or energy to train 30 hours a week during the school year. I’m very curious.

Ya that seems kind of bogus advice…
Your SUMMER training plan is super easy. Other 9 months seem not much different from any other office job…
