I do all of my running in a tri short as regular running shorts always seem to bunch up and/or chafe me. I have been running in the De Soto Carerra tri shorts as I find the fit and quality to my liking. One knock on them for me is the lack of pockets. I tried this Forza and Riviera shorts since they have pockets but found the 4mm and 7mm pad just too thick for pure running. Also the compression fabric felt a bit stiff & heavy compared to the Carerra material. Emilio just released the answer to my prayers!
The brand new Mobius Tri Short combines a new comfort compression material that feels as soft and flexible at a lycra/spandex short yet has good compression. The short also has my beloved FLEECE pad and 4 pockets!! I received my Mobius shorts earlier this week and have put in 3 runs in them and love them. They go on as easily as a regular short, give great compression despite the lack of stiff material, and are super convenient. In my Carerra shorts and earlier versions, all of my long runs and marathons would include a fanny pack to carry nutrition and other items. Now the Mobius short solves this issue since I can use any of the 4 pockets for stuff. I will be wearing them for my next marathon in a few weeks!
I am in love with these shorts and will be ordering more.
Happy to answer any questions!
Thanks, John
EMILIO: Any chance of getting a Mobius Tri Bib just like these shorts???
I completed a 3 hr run in these shorts today. Perfect. Great support and the 4 pockets are a godsend for storing gels and stuff and the fleece pad was just right for me as well.
Great review and those are exactly my sentiments with regard to materials etc so I will be ordering some! Wonder if I can “bundle” my purchase for with some tequila fo a discount
Haven’t tried these but second your request for a tri bib with a fleece pad!!
I also have a new request! I would like a Mobius Tri Suit with the fleece pad. The De Soto one I have is very old but I still love it and the fleece pad.
Update: Ran a marathon this weekend in these shorts. The four pockets are my new favorite! The material has more compression than the regular trishort, the fleece pad is great as usual and the pockets seal the deal. I was able to easily store a gel , my key fob, and other stuff like a salt tab in these pockets and I never even noticed they were there. These are the shorts I have been looking for and I will use them for all of my running. I am hopeful Emilio will continue to keep these are part of the usual selection going forward.
Its funny, I look at different bike or tri shorts but then I remember how much I love my Riv Tri shorts w/ water lid pockets or my 400 mile short w/ pockets. No other manufacture I know puts as many function pockets in their shorts as does De Soto.

I had the same thoughts about running in a Riviera tri short, until I found that I really liked them for riding on my Tri Bike. Then I did a few bricks with them and I not longer have any objections to running in them. They still feel weird when I put them on, compared to my other tri-shorts including the Forza, but the only reason I don’t do pure runs in them is that I don’t want to wear them out.
I have a couple of “older” 4 pocket Forza tri shorts with a thin fleece pad that I run in sometimes. My go to shorts are the DS Tuesday run shorts, love them but if its raining or I have some chafing I go with the Forza.
Sounds like I’m going to be trying the Möbius too.
I see lots of love for the Forza tri bibs, I have them too but I no longer race in.
