So I finally got to use my 310 in a race on Sunday at IM Loo and when I tried to transfer the data to Training Center on my PC I got an error message. After spending 1 1/2 hours on the phone with garmin I was told that the data was corrupt. I had to reset the device and lost all my data from my IM race. I know some people had problems with the 310 when it first came out, but I just got mine less than two weeks ago. Maybe I’m just ranting and should post on the “cry like a little biatch thread” but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
I have had this problem. Did you happen to update the ant agent or change anything? One thing I would recommend is download the data once you are done with a workout to minimize possible losses… at least for now. It seems like they are updating the ant agent plus the watch software on a regular basis and working out the bugs as they go. The good thing is at least it is easy to download your data after a workout. I just toss my watch on my desk and it downloads automatically. The garmin tech support has tried to be helpful when I had problems, unfortunately I don’t think they have much experience with the 310 yet… or this issue specifically. It seems like the solution is always a hard reset.
My experience is that it isn’t corrupt, it’s that TC can’t handle that many data points.
TC on the Mac can import them, but can’t display them. TC on the PC just crashes.

Did you exchange it for a new unit? They’re telling me that it seems to be a problem with the device. I used it a couple of times before the race and it transferred everything fine. Apparently an update came out a day or so ago and I just installed that after the hard reset. I then just let it run for a few seconds and transferred the data as a test. It did successfully transfer the data, but it still gave me the error message. I was going to let a friend borrow it for a race next weekend, but they told me it would take 10-14 days to get a new unit so I really want to keep the one I’ve got it I can get it to work…
Mine has been fine after the hard reset and SW update. I have had good luck with it since then.

I had similar problems right after I got it had a hill repeat(bike) on mac the files were downloaded into .fit files but in the bad files directory and since I don’t have spec on the .fit file format
couldn’t decode… I did remember I went in and manually on the watch and deleted a few activities in the middle of a weeks worth and thinking that affected it used to have that problem on my
301 would lock up. I haven’t had that problem and didn’t have that problem at imlou downloaded everything…
Still trying to find out how to download waypoints I set ant thing doesn’t seem to download those.
Now I’d bet the files aren’t really corrupted and if we had the spec on the file format could decode a large portion unless its some statistical compression file format like zip then your pretty much out of luck but sure would like to try.
garmin is in the process of phasing out the TC in favor of the garmin connect platform. it’s about 50/50 now when i download my workouts that they won’t go into TC. Unlike some other folks around hear I have not had any problems loggin into and loading data on garmin connect YET. (knocking on wood).
Unfortunately I have no idea as to why these workouts are no longer loading onto TC.
