Pro2 Race vs. Michelin Ironman

Anyone have practical experience with the difference between the two? Looking at Michelin’s web site, they’re little performance chart gives the Pro2 a slight edge in rolling efficiency and the Ironman an edge in grip. Not sure why a triathlon tire (“designed specifically for triathletes”) needs more grip than a tire for road racing.

I bought a pair of 404’s with a set of the Ironman tires mounted on them and I’m trying to decide if I should replace them. This will be my first year racing with the Michelin’s.

could not tell the difference other than the colour!

I like both tires. I have switched back and forth between the two tires for the last 2 years. It usually depends on which one my lbs has in stock. I can notice absolutely no difference between the two (other than the price). My lbs says the Ironman tires are supposed to be a little more puncture resistant, but, in their experience, there is no difference.

I have used both and from what I can tell they are essentially the same tire. The IM’s were red and the Pro 2 I had was gray, that was about it. In terms of build, material, etc, they looked and felt identical to me. My n=1.
