I was wondering what everyone has come up with to combat potential aero helmet visor fogging. Has anyone tried and been successful with something like RainX, or some other anti fogging chemical? Or has anyone tried using the Oakley Hydrophobic solution they offer for their sunglasses?
Just looking for potential options as I am sure at least once this race season I will be coming out of the swim with the air temperature being a little cool. I would prefer to be able to utilize the visor on my helmet and not worry about fogging or taking the precaution of removing it.
had the same issue, have been using ‘quick spit’ antifog with much success…wash the visor a day before the race, spray the stuff on, rub it in, very gently rinse it off then let it air dry and have had no fogging issues since
.
The makers of RainX also make a product called FogX that is used on the inside of car windshields to prevent them from fogging. Additionally, some companies make wipes that you use on safety glasses to keep them from fogging. I don’t think aero helmet visors have any special coating on them or are made from any weird material, so I suspect any anti-fogging product for sunglasses, safety glasses, cars, motorcycle helmets, etc should work fine for your visor.
I asked about the RainX specifically because I remember in the past hearing rumors that it did not mesh well with plastic as it was designed for glass. To the point that it would ruin plastic windshields (motorcycles) so it was best not to use it. So I was curious if anyone had used it with good results…
