I have been doing to some research and reading into Hammer Nutrition and wanted to draw on the group for some info, here.
Specifically, I am thinking of adding just the Premium Insurance Caps to my normal routine…then if it goes very well I will consider adding one of their other miracle formulas.
Has one conducted this sort of test…say 60 or 80 days of adding the Premium Insurance Caps?
Any other anecdotes good or bad woudl be nice, too.
If you are sponsered by Hammer, please say so in your reply.
Once I parsed all that information, I settled on the P.I. Caps as a possible match for my needs and as entry point to the other stuff if it works very well for me.
Yeah, I think I will give up real food and eat their capsules every hour. I like their gel and the saltcaps but dont have a clue about the rest of their line. Be curious to see what the consensus is. Didnt see any Hammer-Viagra though ; )
A search of the forum for "Premium Insurance Caps" basically yeilded no resuts. I would find it hard to belive that I would be the first person to think of trying this…
Sidenote, did anyone else just get a catalog from Hammer? Geezus, they have caps for everything – even your PROSTATE! No kidding.
I had no idea of the depth of their product line… so I guess the catalog served its purpose.
Um … don’t laugh about that. Prostate infections (and other prostate problems) are fairly common for cyclists. The PSA caps are great preventive medicine.
I haven’t used the premium insurance caps, but, I use the PSA caps and the REM caps, as well as the Tissue Rejuvenator with great results.
I guess with the REM thing you might know right away if you were on the right track…
How did you integrate the Tissue Regen thing into your routine in such a way that you knew it was providing value?
I have a long history with insomnia, so, yes, the effectiveness of the REM caps was easy to detect.
With regard to the Tissue Rejuvenator, I started taking it around late July when I tore my hammy while training for IMMoo. My recovery was significantly faster than my PT expected. I continued taking it for a while as I started to ramp up my training again and noticed that I seemed to recover from my long rides and long runs much faster. I noticed it, but, did not pay much attention, finished the bottle, stopped taking it. Once I stopped taking it, it seemed to take longer to recover. I started taking it a few weeks later and, again, it seemed to help me recover better from my long rides and long runs. Nothing else changed – still took ice baths, still took in protein after the long sessions, etc. The only difference was the Tissue Rejuvenator.
I cycle on and off of it now. It seems to help me recover from hard training sessions. Could it be placebo? Maybe. But, it seems to work for me so I will continue to use it.
I take them, especially now when training loads are a little higher for me. What are expecting see or feel? What results are you looking for? I can’t say they have given me any super powers but don’t think you can judge the benefit on what you can see or feel really.
Well, if I am going to spend more on supplements I would prefer to have some sort of tangable result. Be it an intangable feeling or somethign I can locate in testing.
During the FC508 I used the electrolyte capsules, the gel and HEED.
I probably overdid it on the HEED or the combination of HEED and the capsules. Since the desert air was much drier than the air in the bay area, - i was drinking more, - too much. To compensate for the drinking and sweating, - I was consuming more electrolyte mix and probably put too much acid in my stomach.
I have found Hammer Gel to be a pretty great energy boost when I’ve got the major blahs, - I take it straight, - and only after I’m feeling wiped out.
I take Premieum Insurance caps daily and double up the dose during hard training. I am also 230 pounds ( dosage is weight dependent). I substituted PIC’s for a multi vitamin I was taking. I think its important to take a multivitamin and Vitamin C daily because of the way foods are processed and our ( read my ) lousy diet. Premieum Insurance Caps dont give me superpowers. They just give me the abiltity to train, recover and feel good. I noticed a perceptible shift in how I felt after taking them for a week. My recommendation would be to try them and see if they work for you.
I use several of their products and have not been disappointed with them. I have been using their PIC for many years and feel it provides a good base supplement along with good eating habits. Anti-Fatigue caps, race caps, and mitro caps are a nice combination during long tough workouts/races. I have used this combination with the endurolytes for my ironman, 1/2 IM’s, and many marathons.
For Recovery: 2-AO and 3 Anti-fatigue, and a bottle of Recoverite work very well post workout/race. Recovery is key for me since I am pushing 50. I also think they have very good whey protein.
I have also found a scoop of HEED and a scoop of perpetuem work well for me on the bike. On the run in very warm weather I use just one scoop of HEED or just water and hammer gel (with endurolytes).
I love the REM caps. Good sleep without the grogginess.
Bottom
line I don’t feel as drained physically since I have been using some of
their products. My recovery is better which allows for higher training
volume. I don’t seem to get sick as frequently which tells me I am
supporting my immune system better. But that’s me - what works for one
person may not for another.
I ordered the PIC’s last night, as well as the fish oil. I am going to give it two weeks to make sure my body doens’t reject it or freak out and if that goes well I am going to get a second month and basically see how I feel after 60 days. I think that should be a fair test.
I also bought some bib shorts because they are so dirt cheap.
I have a long history with insomnia, so, yes, the effectiveness of the REM caps was easy to detect.
I’m not surprised… those caps have a solid dose of melatonin, plus a slug of valerian. That combination in those dosages would knock out a mule…
I have been taking the Master Formula Damage Control supplements as ‘insurance’, but frankly have not been able to detect a difference. On the other hand, I’ve made it this far through winter without a major respiratory infection, which is an improvement over the last 3 years. I’ve also changed sleep patterns considerably though, so it’s hard to say for sure.
That’s me on page 35 … right there with the prostate products and the products for enhanced libido.
When I saw that, it made me feel a bit like Joey Tribiani in the Friends episode when he ended up on a poster for STDs.
.
I just saw that last night… funny. “I know that dude…” I thought it was all in the training & equiptment, but apparently it’s just a matter of taking enough Boron.
