Curious about there disc? Is it structural carbon or spoked. Anyone have one.
I believe it is a real structural disc.
There are two generations - Gen 1 is a trispoke internal, Gen 2 is structural. I’ve ridden the Gen 1 a lot and had my hands on a Gen 2. Both have a flat profile on the drive and non-drive side. Happy to try and answer any questions and I’m sure Dan will chime in here if I can’t answer them.
The Gen 2 is fantastic. Much, much better than gen 1 (we have both).
So structural carbon. What’s the internal Beed width? Overall width? Brake track quality. It’s sold at a really good price. I’m trying to figure out what the comprise is. I’m not saying that to sound harsh or like jerk.
The compromise is probably as simple as having much less overhead than other sellers so they can charge less. Good deal for buyers and non ridiculous profit for Dan. Win win
Obviously there not manufacturing there own stuff. Nothing wrong with that I like my Flo wheels.
Obviously. Poor word choice on my part. Corrected-sellers.
For the gen one- we had them built for us on a Tri-spoke along with the 88’s and 45’s.
When I decided to offer the XS on the 650 wheel platform- I decided to re-do all the wheels - 700 and 650 line - so we opened new molds on disc’s, 88’s and 45’s for both sizes 700 and 650’s.
Now we own all the molds.
If I was going to spend the money to make all new wheel molds - I also wanted the most up to date shapes, material, brake track and overall quality.
I think the margin we are making is fair - that also makes for a great option for athletes with respect to cost.

What exactly is structural carbon?

You think Flo is doing their own manufacturing?

The carbon skin is supporting the loads, rather than being a cosmetic/aero skin over a spoked structure.
No. I was trying to say I’m ok with companies like FLO that don’t make there own stuff.
As long as they are up front about it.

Ahhh … Sorry I misunderstood.
Almost no one in this space owns their own factories. I was just at a factory that was churning out the carbon fiber structure of S-works saddles. Not sure specialized is up front about not manufacturing those themselves. But they could never replicate the quality this place has on their own… well, never say never. It’s highly unlikely that they could.
Bump.
Is PT’s disc on par with Zipp, ENVE, etc? I’m looking for a structurally carbon disc And it seems to fit the bill.
Does Premier sell individual front wheels? The website would suggest they don’t…which I find odd.
