I’ve got a couple questions. First is the HR monitor. I have a Polar s210, is the Powertap pro compatible with the transmitter belt, or vice versa? I’d like to use the Polar on the swim and run, and don’t want to have to change transmitter belts during the transitions. Second, I’m out of room on my bars to mount the Powertap display and want to mount it to my stem. I’ve got some Profile Carbon Strike clip-ons, and take them off when riding mountainous centuries. So, mounting the display on the stem keeps it in one place all the time and keeps it out of the way. I had my Cateye Astrale mounted off the side of the end of my aerobar, but I kept bumping it with my knee. Can’t put it up front because of the Profile drink bottle that nests between the bars. Other than a home made mount for the stem, anybody know of a way to mount the display to the stem? Thanks a lot for any help/advice!
I have had variable luck with getting my PT Pro to pick up the signal from my Polar S510 HRM. Frequently it works, but I tried it at Wisconsin last year, and it did not work that day. Not sure why. I think it may be the coded transmitter. It should work fine with any uncoded Polar HRM transmitter.
I also have my display mounted on the stem. I went the homemade route, though, and fabricated an adaptor shim. Works okay, but I’ll be interested to see if anyone has any other options.
For best results, use an uncoded HR transmitter with the PT and SRM.
I have had no problems using a Polar uncoded belt from a S150 with my powertap. When mounting on the stem I went the “homemade” method and cut a couple of extra slots in the mount for the zipties. It actually looks fairly tidy.

I’m in the process of developing/fabricating a carbon adapter to use my Powertap on the stem. Carbon and zip ties=magic.
I can post a pic after its done, and they’ll be up for sale at the Cing website (link below).

Thanks for the input. One last question. After getting the mount thing straightened out, I did a ride yesterday and tried to download. Seems like I’m not getting a connection to the COM port. I followed all the instructions in the book, but no luck. The book said to check the PC and see what software was using that port and to exit those programs. Anybody know how to do that in Windows 98? I even tried getting my kids to help and they couldn’t do it either. If you have any ideas, I’d appreciate hearing them. And, boy, you gotta work to generate some real watts. My max was 522, and I just averaged 196 over a 20 mile rolling hill course. Averaged 18.3 with a 145 HR and 79 cadence. That was my PR on the course, I found out that I’d been slacking on the downhills. Pretty cool stuff to see! Oh, and my Polar HR monitor will pick up the Cyclops transmitter belt, but the Powertap won’t pick up the Polar transmitter. So, I’m good to go with the Cyclops belt.
